Hi *waves*

First off I must warn you that I'm still a total SL newbie, so I'm really sorry if the answers to any of this are obvious...

I'm a musician in RL, and part of the reason I joined Second Life was because I'd heard good things about being able to stream gigs and so on, and meet other like-minded people/promote my music. Now I've got here and really love the place, I've been doing a lot of exploring but my head's spinning a bit because SL is so vast.

Basically I am looking for recommendations of good venues who stream/simulcast gigs regularly. Search doesn't seem to bring up much good; I'd prefer a personal recommendation. Eventually I'm aiming to buy some land and build a little cafe/venue of my own there, but in the meantime I'd love to see the SL gig experience for myself, just to see how it's done and meet other people who are into the same stuff.

If it makes any difference, my music tastes are pretty vast, but the stuff I play is sort of vocal electronica/indie/shoegaze/dreampop.

Hopefully I've posted this in the right place and someone will have a gem or two up their sleeve for me ;)

Thanks all

Lucinda. x

Komuso Tokugawa plays some nice music. Good sound quality, pretty reliable stream.

I enjoyed RockPianoMan Pienaar .

"A Quantum Tribe Dance Club and Entertainment Center by QTLabs" seemed like a nice place to me. It's in a sim called Quantum Fields.

You can find technical info in the secondlife wiki.

The Merry Prankster in Basilisk has live music pretty much every night. Friendly, helpful people there, too. IM Nancy Lei or KevinBear Watanabe.

Hi Lucinda

Taff's Bar on Cymru regularly hosts live musicians, try dropping an IM to Tallulah Maddaloni who books the live acts.

Good Luck & Welcome to SL :)

Hi Lucinda and welcome to the forum :)

First of all, if you're interested in playing as a musician you might want to check out the SL music community forums :

http://slmc.myfastforum.org/index.php

Tonnes of information there which you can read without joining. Also lots of very helpful people if you have questions or need assistance setting up.

If you like I can drop you a couple of notecards with some info and some tips in terms of venues and musicians. Drop me an IM inworld if you want those.

Enjoy the music!

Hi Lucinda :)

Welcome to SL :)

There's a lot of places for live music.

The Bushy Beard on the Brugge SL sim promotes established musicians as well as new musicians to SL and up and comers. (I book the live acts here)

Merry Pranksters and the Hummingbird also do open mic nights, but there's plenty of wonderful venues on SL to both listen and perform live music.

A good thing, besides joining the above forum, is joining the Live Music Enthusiasts group - just one of many musicians groups on SL - and ask for advice there.

IM me in world if you need some more advice/tips/help too :)

Have fun!

Hello!!

At the weekend Sally Silvera told me about www.thesixtyone.com which was the greatest website I've ever discovered as it has loads of SL musicians on there. I've just been listening to Jeremy Gilchrist. Personally I'm not a musician - just a fan.

Perhaps you could have a look on there too.

Oh yes..... lots of them on there. Though very very far from everyone! Not everyone likes the idea of these kinds of sites...
But...... if you look for my name on thesixtyone.com you'll find quite a few SL musicians in my playlists.
Or click through to Dolmere Talamasca's profile via mine (his listening account is called something else). He's got most SL musicians in his playlists.
Note: There is some confusion to be had there because not every SL musician is listed under their SL name though.

If you sign up you can join in the bumpin' as well :D
