Need information on Traffic stats

ARe there any detailed articles on specifics of how traffic numbers go up and down?? Was at over 1000 a few days ago..now dropped to 200.. and help would be appreciated ;)

1 traffic point = 1 minute of time spent on the parcel by someone other than the parcel owner during the last daily traffic period. I think if it's group-owned, all traffic is counted.

EDIT: Unless it's a Linden-owned sim (like welcome areas), it's probably not possible for a mainland parcel/sim to have more than 57600 traffic, because of the 40-avatar limit. Anyone who has more traffic than that (and there are many) is most likely on a private island where the avatar limit has been bumped up.

A place I frequent went from about 30k to about 16k yesterday, too.

Does wednesday-downtime count? Or, rather, not count?

Downtime (meaning, time when everyone is kicked off the grid for a period) always makes an impact. And traffic numbers are for the previous day, and it's not a cycling number; it's calculated once every 24 hours, sometime in the early morning PST.
