Find-a-Linden HUD?

Reading through the Magellan thread, I saw reference to the "Find-a-Linden HUD". A HUD that finds an online Linden? Where could one get one of these?

Is there a Get a Linden to pay any attention to you at all hud for a follow up?

I remember when this first came out, the lindens were non too pleased

I am sure they will find some way to hide from them

personally I feel it is wrong to use such a hud, besides they prolly will not reply even if you do find one and contact them (and I do not blame them if they do not reply)

They have the ability to zero in on any one of us whenever they please. Turnabout is fair play. They are the ones who continually go on about "transparency." Now that the sensors are set to them they can get a feel for what it's like to be monitored 24/7. Now some are watching the watchers.

We have the ability to find them online so that...uhm..well..probably a lot of people use it to ask random things that Lindens could do better without being asked 20 times a day.

I know. The world isn't fair. But this happens to be their world we're in remember? They call the shots. If they felt like it was that bad, they could simply ban the find-a-linden HUD.

Quite honestly, I never knew about it, but hearing about it so am I.

It's a tool that makes bothering them when they're doing important things even easier... I'd ban it if I were them o.o

Of course... it would be easy enough to monitor who owns a script that keeps calling llRequestAgentData() on Random Linden's key, so the watchers could easily watch themselves being watched and... make mischief with Inventory assets.

I just check if any of the ones on my friends list are online, if not then I can wait (nothing is that urgent)

if it is something that can not wait, I just use live support live chat (which strangely enough usually ends up being one of the ones on my friends list, just not logged in) LOL

I have a copy of this HUD and have never used it. Any time I have needed help, I haven't even remembered that I had this item - I've just opened up a ticket and waited the required moon cycle.

They have the ability to zero in us for any reason. To help us is just one of them. They are fallible beings, just as we all are, and this ability (along with the myriad of other abilities) is a powerful thing to have at one's disposal. I would hope, and expect, that these abilities are not abused.

They tell us that this is our world and our imagination. Some are adamant that it is not, that it is their world and we are more subject to their whims. I would hope that it is truly our world (Lindens included) and that we all have a stake in it and can contribute to how it develops. As time goes by the Lindens will have to let go of some some of that control as independent grids spring up.

First of all, I meant that that is the reason they have it at all. It's why they are capable of doing it. I know they're fallible, but generally they also do things more important to SL than we do, so they deserve to be left alone at least a little SOMETIMES, don't you think?


By 'their world' I meant that it is..well..wait. Their world! They set the rules, they do support, they do everything. SL is as much the world of LL as EQ2 is SOE's world.

The only difference is who created stuff in the worlds.

Our world our imagination as in we can make it into whatever we want, and we have a pretty wide range of freedom if you think about it. But they're still the ones who can say 'You're not allowed here any more'. We can't do that.

So, by my definition that doesn't have a concrete wordage, this is LL's world.

That would be a thoroughly unprofessional thing to do of course, ban perhaps but I think if they were really bothered they would just return a not found result from the system on names ending in Linden. However they don't so my opinion is that they don't really care that much.

I have written a basic script a few weeks ago when I wanted to find an online Linden and it does most of what the HUD does. Obviously I had to spend some time testing it. There were no problems getting their online status and no IMs back saying I had to desist doing what I was doing.

Linden visibility/transparancy


I did notice a while back that two Lindens who were on one of my parcels to check on something did not show up on the visitor log.
It uses llSensorRepeat.

On the other hand, I once met up with a Linden in connection with some land, and a bot suddenly appeared and hovered ready for action. I assumed at the time that the Linden in question had been detected by a scripted prim on one of the bot owners parcels.

That could depend on whether or not any given Linden is in "god mode" at the time. They dun seem to show up on most agent scans if they're in dat mode.

These were definite gods. It was a high-profile ZOMG situation.

Always wondered if there was a program like this to locate online lindens. Shocked to findout it did exist. As someone said Lindens don`t answer personal IM these days ( well not much that is ).

It wouldn't always work either if it is just trying to grab agent data since I believe they can actually make it return 0 on their key thus making them entirely invisible as part of admin mode.

LOL...Some of us are not so fortunate as to have Lindens on our friends list. There has only been one time that I needed a Linden RIGHT FREAKING NOW, so I can't see me abusing the tool.
