Crash on every teleport, can't upload since newest version

Since I downloaded the latest version (1.18.5 (3) Nov 28 2007 14:04:29) I can NOT teleport anywhere or upload any image files. I use a Mac, OS X 10.4.11 on a 2007 Macbook 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GBs RAM. This is another reason why I won't pay for SL. I've cleared my cache a few times. Now, if I want to teleport, I just find out the sim name, then log into that sim.

The new Search is only an excuse to 'showcase' ads. yay.

I WISH I could upload stuff and teleport again. Very aggravating.

and a bonus is it has the old kind of commuication windows

I had this annoying tp problem on my MacBook Pro for 4 months. I crashed after tp about 90% of the time. Setting my draw distance to the minimum, 64 has fixed it. Hope this helps.

SL performance has definitely gotten worse. I never had the problems I've been experiencing lately and no,,, my computer hasn't been altered in any way. No new programs, setting or downloads. There are time I also can't teleport. I also freeze in place which can only be corrected by quitting SL and relogging,, if it will let me. At times I have to try and reloge 4 or 5 times before it'll hold. This has definitely ruined the SL experience for me!!!!

Uninstall the original version of Second life that is already on your computer.
After doing this, go back onto the Second life website and download the client again.
Install it as you did before and see if it works this time.

That's the only thing I can think of.

Thanks all for your helpful, and in some cases, sad comments. Will try them out, since I'm still crashing on any teleport and can't upload. Sigh.

I have had some luck in fixing issues like this by manually deleting my cahce folder. Mine is in:

C:\Document Settings\Owner\Application Data\SecondLife\cache

I just delete the cache folder and SL will recreate when you log in next time.

My draw distance was at 64, so that didn't help. I re-downloaded and reinstalled the latest version. No dice. I also got rid of my cache folder - manually. Still have the same problems. I heard someone else has them, too, but she uses Windows, I'm on a Mac. Are we the only ones?

Not being able to teleport at all could be a symptom that your firewall or router isn't forwarding the right ports for SL to work. Try searching support for "firewall" and make sure all those ports are cleared for your computer.
If you still have a problem ... then .. yeah .. you have a problem!

They don't MAKE you use the beta viewers, if it doesn't work for you don't use it just go back to the standard viewer. Including Nicholaz you can have 4 versions of the viewer to choose from.
People threatening to leave SL because they can't run the beta viewers is just silly.

We? No. Me too. And I have allowed access to sl in many ways. It i sNOT us - it is the system itself which has many flaws and always has had.
