Hi,
I am a member of two groups, and I respond to group IMs when I am not busy. However, there are times when the chatter gets too much, and I would really just like to switch them off, without removing myself from the groups, and without going into busy mode as other IMs from friends I want to receive. Is there any way to temporarily stop group IMs?
On another note, I have noticed that group IMs do not get forwarded to my email, as they only go out in the first place to members who are currently online. But, I am also a member of SL Mentors and I find that all the group IMs DO get forwarded to my email when I am not online. Does anyone know how this works?
Regards to all
Rock

group notices, proposals, and voting results get passed to email... general chat, doesn't (at least that's how it works for all the groups I've been in) (heck, sometimes I'm online and I don't get group chat till halfway through the conversation, and then several minutes after sent, out of sequence, and I get "you do not have permission to send messages to this group', or "the server was unable to send this message", 5 minutes later, and can't mute or even find spammers in the speakers list.... ) group chat = seriously borked for me at this time.

Rock, closing group IM window *should* terminate IMs for your present session. I fairly frequently am required to close a second time but I think that does it. I thought LL had cured this bug a while back - mebbe it's one of those that have resurfaced Void, I sympathise .. I really, really do! The number of times I get a spamming Group IM and I type a perhaps not-too-cryptic derogatory comment and I'm not allowed to post!! ME!! I'M the one not allowed to post!! Grrr!!

Add to note: you must close the window on the specific group IM, not just the general IM window, because then they just keep coming back.

Oh yes, usually in other IMs at the time anyway so definitely only the group IM I close ............. and close

Rock, the best you can do is to close the session and go into busy mode. That should suppress any new sessions, and will not stop incoming direct IMs.

I noticed this on the jira page: Domchi Underwood - 30/Sep/07 06:43 AM I'm not sure if this when this was added, but THERE IS AN OPTION TU MUTE GROUP CHAT: when in group chat window, you can press "<<" button and mute text or voice (or both). It does not stick through logons - which is fine. I'm not quite sure what DU means. Hit the > key twice? In any case, I'll be interested to check this out when next in world.
