Making landmarks... That work

I just rented a store from a landowner. He is very accomidating but when i tried to make a landmark that went directly to my store, it failed. The landmark sends me to another part of his property everytime. If i give the landmark to others it sends them to the same unintended place. However when he uses the landmark it sends him right to my store. I asked him is there a way to make the landmarks work but he didn't know. I'm assuming there's some sort of land tool that he has to make any tp send to a specific place. I dont' have access to landtools or have ever used them. I'm hoping somebody here has and knows how we can correct this, thanks.

If he has a landing point set on the parcel, any landmark will go to that landing point. He can land anywhere he wants because he's the landowner, but anyone else will go to the landing point.

He can change this if he doesn't actually need a set landing point, but otherwise you may not be able to get people directly to the shop.

Sounds like he has a 'landing point' set on the land. The 'landing point' forces everyone teleporting onto that property to arrive at the same set place.

The owner of the land, however, can teleport anywhere and the 'landing point' doesn't affec them. This would explain why they can use your landmark without a problem, but nobody else can.

If you call up the 'about land' then look at the options tab, at the bottom you will see it has coordinates for a landing point, that'll be where you and your customers keep arriving. Ask the landlord to 'clear' the landing point and your landmarks will start working.

Agreed with Mickey. Ask your landlord if he can take the landing point setting off the main area. He may have his reasons for setting it as is, or he may not realize that he could hurt business. Either way, it couldn't hurt to ask.

You may ask the landowner to partition the land so that your store occupies its own parcel whithin the larger parcel, that way you can setup your own landing point.

In the "about land" settings on the "options" tab there is a drop down box to determine how teleport traffic should route. If the parcel owner has that set to send all traffic to the landing point, then that is where everyone lands. He needs to change that to "anywhere" in order for landmarks to work for any location.

Yep. That 'Landing Point' issue drove me nuts on one parcel that I purchased. Apparently the previous owner had set a landing point near the middle of the parcel, on the ground. I had never messed with that setting, and for a while couldn't understand why none of my friends could use landmarks for my land that worked just fine for me. They instead always wound up at that same spot on the ground. Changing the teleport routing for the parcel to "anywhere" fixed it instantly.

One of my friends has a "landing point" set on her land at the spot where she used to have her skybox, about 500m in the air. I've been trying to explain to her all week that giving me a new landmark isn't helping, she needs to change that setting. In the meanwhile, I found myself a freebie parachute on SLexchange. :P
