Hello, was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I would like to start broadcasting in world and doing some DJ slots from time to time. I am a strict amateur but i guess thats half the fun. I can see that there is a newish site www.ubroadcast.com which seems to be pretty popular at the moment for amateur broadcasts. The thing is i realise that in sl you need like an address http:512.88.713:8000 etc etc, (sorry i dont even know what the proper name if for an address like that) rather than simply a web address. Does anyone know with ubroadcast if you are given an address which can be used inworld? Thanks for your time, Deano.

What you refer to is an 'IP Address', I'm not familiar with UBroadcast but I have Shoutcast a lot which is the same kind of thing I think. With Shoutcast, you use your PC as a 'server' for streaming the media, it is a bit fiddly to set up the server.
Just looked at the UBroadcast website and it sounds good. If it needs an IP address, you can find out what yours is simply, go to the Start button on your PC then go to Run and type in "cmd" (without the quotes). When the scary black screen command prompt appears, type in "ipconfig" (again no quotes) and it will tell you your IP address.

Yep, if you own land you can specify your IP address in the relevant box under the 'About Land' options, make sure to put http:// in front of it, ie http://192.168.100.192. If you're in a club, let the owner have the URL. Have a practice using the UBroadcast software and get a friend to make sure they can hear you before you do any proper broadcasts though...and good luck!

There are things to consider when you link your PC system to the internet in this way. Your system becomes a server, and you are linking every viewer to your system. Do so behind a good harware firewall. Also as you are broadcasting, check you have enough upload speed on your connection to maintain a constant stream to each viewer. Multistreaming is your upload connection speed, shared between each veiwer (unless you use an intermediate streaming server (a multicast slave effectively)), or a unicast server, which is basically a peer to peer network that shares each viewers system connection to even out the loads (although they will need to setup their systems accordingly and give permissions).

I'm bumping you to an 8.3. You obviously have a strong sense of self and you are very much in control of your sensual side. You're the kind of girl that guys are willing to beat each other senseless over, just hoping for a few moments of attention from you. Congratulations and shame on you. you are a slut in the very best possible meaning of the word!

you do need to make sure that you get your external facing ip adress, not the 192.168.x.x adress. these are intenal use only ip adresses, just like 10.10.x.x. you'll also need to know your firewall well, as you will have to open ports. most cable modem connections won't support moe than 3-4 users effectively. commercial streams work best and they can be had for a reasonable monthly fee. if you want some more info, or a test stream for a few hours to try out im me in world.
