I need help with a problem. I require a 64 X 64 meter square (4096) for my structure, which will be a skybox. I fell in love with a prefab, and my heart is set. I own more than I need both for the footprint and prims, except that I have two parcels separated by about 50 meters that cannot be joined. Therefore, I can't combine my prims and my square footage is too small—given this separation. (Each group of parcels is less than the minimum requirement, the combination exceeds the maximum requirement but is useless without being able to join them. The designer inspected the properties and this is her conclusion). The adjoining owner is VM Land Management (group). They own much of the surrounding property, have some of it for sale, and I have also bought 1024 X 2 from them. The property is in Fumb. I would like to ask them to do a swap, so that I can get a 64 X 64 meter block. They are the same company that owns Velvet Manor. However, I cannot find any contact information. I have searched both SL and the Internet. I submitted a ticket a week ago, but support's turn-around time is dragging on. . . I'm grateful for any help you can give me. Hey, I'm a noob, so if I have to dump (abandon) the land and start over again, I will. But I don't want to

Do NOT abandon your land. If you want to sell it quickly, look at the Mainland For Sale listings in Search, and set your land for sale to Anyone at a price a little below the lowest shown. (That'll be pretty low, the land market sucks right now). There are still some landbots roaming around, and one should buy it from you in short order. I'd also look around for ways to contact VM Land Management. Is any of their land on your sim for sale? Is there a notecard giver or something there? Does the Group Info show any members, especially the group owner? If your attempts to get a name fail, here's a tactic you could maybe use. If any of their land is set to allow object entry, rez something on YOUR land, and then slide it over onto THEIR land. Wait. Your object should either be returned to you automatically, or by a group member when they notice your litter. It will come back to your Lost and Found folder with a message, "Your object 'Huge Annoying Object' has been returned to your inventory from Flatland 12, 47, 29 by Stuckup Citizen due to parcel object return". That will give you a name, and you can start your IM by, "Now that I have your attention..."

If you cannot sell... please at least try to contact some group like 'Arbor Project' and have them take it or donate it to them... so it can go back on the grid for others.
But... you will sell very fast if you split it into 512's and price them from 1.7 to 2L per square meter... - and don't make any subplots that could be used as adboards to grief the usable plots. Put smaller plots closer to protected land, but not if they are smaller than 512.
Do that and you should sell within hours.
If both your plots are in the same Sim, you have already joined them for purposes of total prims.
If you can't contact the person in between, ask about them on Arbor Project as well - they've been tracking some of the more harmful land barons and micro parcel companies and might be interested in knowing.
Also, if you can't contact them, and you're building in the sky - you can always keep your root prim on your land and build right through them - until one of them finally shows up.

In the About land window, click on the button with the name of the management group. Avatar names should come up. Start contacting the names on the list and tell them your issue and see if anyone replies with your desire to swap.
Lindal is correct. NEVER abandon land. Sell it cheap if you must, but do not just give it away.

shrug.
Then go lower. But I'm seeing 2L sell fast enough.
0.1L/sqm is still better than getting back 0.

From: Raymond Figtree Lindal is correct. NEVER abandon land. Sell it cheap if you must, but do not just give it away. I've abandoned lots of land, years ago. The calculation is just how much you are losing on the tier, for how long. This come from having it on the market for a long time, but not at a low enough price (even though it seems like a reasonable price - but misunderstanding the state of the market). There is a point at which you have lost so much money, that the proceeds from the sale are utterly inconsequential and you might as well just give it away. Every month means a considerable loss of real money from the tier! This was back in the 16-20$L/m days. And back then, I didn't understand any reason not to just give it back to LL. Those areas are now just blank wastelands, by the way. All the commerce (housing and shops) that took over that space is long gone from SL. But now I'm smarter and most recently was ready to abandon land, I just went to the neighbors who seemed to be doing reasonable things with their land, and gave it to them for 0$L. That way they could expand their pretty stuff (assuming they had the tier). It was actually a lot of work to find people who would take the land for free, because most people were like me: trying to get rid of all (or almost all) of their land in SL. There are organizations to donate them to, but I never know which ones you can trust. There was some land in one of my sims that was owned by some group that purported to be a beautification project, but which really was not.

Join the organizations, attend their meetings, and find out which are genuine.
I forget where I found Arbor Project, but they appear legit based on the meeting I went to, and the advice I got about dealing with some micro-parcel bandits in my Sim.

Any land you own in one sim shares prims - it needn't be attached.
