I've seen quite a few interesting purple-tinged skies during the dusk periods.

I see LOTS of different colors... I like my noons blue instead of gray, so I rapid cycle sun positions until it comes up right. I've also played with using the mouse to move the sun... doing that, I ended up with a deep blood red. About like this, but with stars:

I had a weird glitch one time where the sky (and other seemingly random bits) would flash random/distorted textures. It was quite unsettling :p.

The most unusual sky I have seen in SL happened one night when I was working on my land in Varano. The sky got dark and I saw flickers of light far in the distance. At first I thought, "cool a thunderstorm," and then realized....you dummy, this is SL and there is no weather here. I flew up to investigate and found mutliple AMAZINGLY large mega prims covering my and the surrounding sims. The light flicker must have been some sort of graphics card flooey trying to deal with the prims extending my entire draw distance in every direction. Hoenstly, it was kind of neat.

Back when testing windlight, they had a setting with purple skies....and everything else was kind of blue...THAT was scary.

Several months ago, there was this odd pinkish sky with green horizon.

Of course, then Windlight went away and I've had normal skies ever since.

Yes, the lovely purple skies of Windlight. I tested it at the Lost Gardens of Apollo. It was kind of pretty actually.

Personally, I'm a noon kind of guy. No matter where I go, no matter what the theme I almost always immediately change my screen to noon.

Noon is for when you are NOT looking at people! I always use noon when I'm building just because the better lighting is useful. But when I'm chillin wit da Forum Cartel homies, it's sunrise all the way. :p

DoteDote, it looks like you've got Torley skies! :D
