It tells me to click a message and I do, but it isn't very helpful. Is there something I need to do, or do I just need to upgrade to.. er... 1.26 is it?

There's nothing you need to do, it's a server side message. They're rolling out new code and haven't got to all of the sims yet so some sims are running on a different server version.

It will pass in a few days as long as there are no more major bugs.

Nope.

It's a useful message if you want to test something that LL is changing on the server-side of things. If you're not doing that, it's perfectly safe to ignore that message.

Right now, it's a serious warning flag for content creators. Any sim running the 1.26.1 server code will cause owner permissions to get screwed up if you change the permissions on anything in inventory or via a script. This is supposed to be fixed in 1.26.2, which those same early test sims get tomorrow.

More info: /327/31/316204/1.html

This is why they roll it out to a small handful of sims first. To catch last minute bugs before they infest the entire grid with buggy new code.

Nothing you need to do. The notice is mostly aimed at people who like to test things as soon as the code hits the grid.

Anyone know of a way to stop this popup? I have always found it annoying that it covers a couple of my huds while abusing my airplanes.

Agreed it is annoying and seems largely irrelevant as far as I can see as a non too technical sl user...

can it be turned off ?

It will stop doing that in a couple of days, after they finish rolling the change out to all servers.

And it is far from being irrelevant. If you enter a sim with the new code, and your plane suddenly becomes unlinked unscripted physical prims, I think you might want to know that the server version might be a cause? An extreme example, yes. But people need to know that the environment has changed, so any unexpected bugs can swiftly be noted and fixed.
