Audio distortion problems

I find myself having problems with clicks and pops and distortion in audio (not voice, I don't have that on). This has been happening for a couple of months..but I was fine before that. It is worst when sl is downloading to me, no matter what download max speed I set..500 or 1500. I thought maybe the motherboard sound chip might be getting bogged down, but a soundcard I put in with it's own onboard memory does the same thing...music is just filled with pops etc. until the region has finished downloading to me..then it settles down.

Maybe a network thing? The stream and all of sl's downloads are trying to force through the same pipe size? Maybe I can open up some port that will seperate them? Possibly a simple pref setting that I have messed up some place? I have a fast connection, and even if I set at max 1500 it should not be effecting other download streams...there should be plenty of headroom left. I've got to admit, I've been trying to solve this for weeks. Anyone with any ideas? (Don't say latest drivers please..all tried).

Sometimes the latest drivers are not the best bets!

My audio skips,, actually loops get stuck in a loop and sometimes it will just lock up my PC.

I just bnoticed you were in tampa, Im in orlando.. I wonder if original poster is in florida.. Maybe its TWC, RR etc?
