We have avatars showing up on our landing point, and they just stand there doing absolutely nothing. Then they disappear in about 2 minutes. Any way we can keep this from happening?

They could be just sim hoppers, who TP to random spots . I do it. I TP in , look around a minute or so and if it looks interesting I explore. If not I leave.

If it happens that often, wait there until it does to get their Avatar name. Then send them an IM to ask why they don't like what they found. Some may give you an answer to that.
Perhaps it's something you can fix, perhaps not.
But it would certainly help you figure out why this is happening.

Did you just recently buy the land? Is your plot listed in search? Those are the only reasons I can think of why random people would be showing up. You could block teleporting to keep it from happening. Under about land/options.
ETA- Assuming ofcourse that you don't want them there. Not sure if you have a commercial or private plot...

I've been looking for land before and followed links in search that landed me right in peoples living rooms. Whoever created the event/listing never updated it after they sold/rented the land.
