Transferring Inventory

Hi all,
I have an alt that I want to retire. I've moved all the inventory that had transfer permissions to my primary avatar but there is a lot of stuff that is non-transfer. Is there a way of moving this stuff? And if I can't move it, can I sell it? And how do I do that?

No, there is no way to either sell or give away "No Transfer" items. I wish there was some way of transfering inventory between Alt accounts - but I expect it would be an option that could be open to abuse.

No Transfer means just that. You cant sell it or give it away.

No transfer is just that. You can not transfer it. Not even to another character you own.
Because it can not be transfered, you will not be able to sell it.

Rae, this is not a game in the normal sense. If you want to sell something you have to find a buyer. That buyer is another person just like you. You can not sell stuff back to the game.

Yosef, I understand that I can't sell things to the game itself. I ment that I'd like to sell what I don't need anymore to someone else who might want it...

.. cuz everyone knows its not possible to transfer your stuff in RL, so why should we be allowed to do it in SL. :rolls eyes:

I stopped buying things that weren't copy/modify and am thinking of adding transfer to that list as well.

I know its not "legal" to sell your avatar but I've seen others do it. (ebay etc.) I don't know why that should be a problem either - I'd be more willing to buy SL merchandise if I thought one day I could get some value back from what I've purchased.

In RL at least I know I can always give things away or sell them on a place like eBay if i no longer have a use for them.

There's no such thing as copy-perms in RL. And in RL, there's little to no risk of the sim your home is in, having a hiccup or roll-back and your belongings all going *poof* to be lost forever more.

In SL, the majority of my products are now mod/copy. That allows people to modify, adjust the size, colour or whatever as they see fit, and it lets them keep a backup, rez as many as they want, etc. That way when/if SL vaporizes things by mistake, they can just rez another.

The flip side is, if you have copy perms, odds are you don't have transfer perms. If you have both copy and transfer then you can just go into business -- you can rez an inexhaustable supply and you can sell them / give them away.

It isn't really possible to fairly equate the SL perms to RL situations. Yes you can give away or sell something on ebay. But after you've done that, you don't still have it in your inventory, and you can't rez extra copies incase it gets borked or lost in a glitch.

One option here is not to kill the alt account completely, but have the alt give the main "edit permissions". If you need something, have the alt rez it, and let the main do the moving.

Obviously won't work on clothes, but on house/land type items, should work fine.
