(Note: Threads in this forum are required to be in the form of a question.)
Suppose that I felt the need to retract or apologize for something I said publicly here in RA about a place. Would making an announcement much like the one below be a good way to do that?
************************
Not very long ago someone here recommended The Bubblegum Music Factory as a friendly place to hang out where the folks were welcoming and there was plenty of open text chat (rather than all the locals using voice and leaving the place 'silent' and unfriendly-feeling).
I went there to check it out and reported back here that my experience was very different, and that I found the place to be rather UNfriendly.
Since then I have gone back more than once. I have changed my opinion and I wish to apologize.
I've found folks there to be really friendly. The humor was abundant and I plan to return. I was wrong the first time. It's a cool place and it's cool not because of the scenery but because of the people.

I think you just did it. I wouldn't worry much about it.

Words have a lot of power. I'm trying to be careful how I wield them these days.

From: Raymond Figtree Words have a lot of power. I'm trying to be careful how I wield them these days. But not so careful that you fear to speak. *Thinking of all the people who she wishes would be even a tiny bit more careful*

On your knees with your eyes cast down - bearing gifts. Who hasn't said something they wish they hadn't? We're probably all guilty of doing it once or twice. (or 3, or 4, or 5, etc times...)

Interesting that we just talked about that Brenda. I think it was said best that "words can only hurt if we let them, and we must control them, not vice versa" Uhoh, does that mean we have to add that in as another post of yours that was helpful Another here that thinks its awesome that you came in to post an apology. Those are never easy to say.

Sometimes places are deserted, or lively, or scarce...depending on the time of day. Some areas have different 'shifts' of regulars who visit at different times of the day. I try to visit a place at various times to really get the feel for it. It is big of you to admit to have recognized your mistake and make it right publicly.

Put your promotional statement in your signature, find a question about how to use SL that hasn't been answered, and answered it. That benefits the questioner and makes your puts your promotional statement visible on every post you've ever made.

Good news about a person or a place is generally welcomed...as long as it isn't an ad for your own place!
Bad news about a person or place generally falls under the "no naming of names" rule.

Drivin - think I'll lay claim to making the Bubblegum recommendation originally. Truthfully I wouldn't wrack myself with guilt over saying something and then changing your mind. Everyone is entitled to opinions and open mindedness sometimes allows the opinions to change. It wouldn't have fretted me for you to maintain your original view as it's your choice. Just glad to see you've come to your senses lol!
