i was wanting to know what it means when a contact shows at the top of my list and has a blue box next to their name instead of the online symbol. does anyone know?

I have never seen a blue box nor an online symbol for that matter. If I have then I have not paid it any attention. I see the list sorted by online (with bold letters) above the offline and then a list of choices for each friend as check boxes in columns.

At one time, there was a special designation if they were logged in with one of the lite versions. I cannot recall the name of the LL lite version, but it is basically just a chat mechanism with no gui.

Those are the friends that have allowed you to see where they are on the map. You can click on them from that list and join them in world.
Oh in world? {shrugs} I thought you meant the dashboard contact list.

means they are logged into SLim.. for ims only. Checked it with a friend who uses it  Hope that helps ~Brie
