Party Game Ideas?

My partner is planning on throwing a party and I'd like to know if anybody has ideas for party games.

We might have between 8-12 people attend. I don't want to fill the entire night with games, just maybe one or two to break the ice.

I'm open to all options except asking people to get nekkid.

What's a fun activity to do?

my therapist plays a game with me to try to make me listen better to what she tells me and i get a prize if i can guess what silly word she has put in to the session that she has decided to do before she talks to me

i usually get it right becos words like hippotamouse arent the sort of words we usully talk about and if you had a party that everyone was talking in chat evryone coud try to guess what the words were that you had asked them to say secretly in im

Truth or Dare is always fun when we play it at the Hangout. Since it is modifiable, you have control over what kinds of questions are asked for Truth and what activity is given for Dare.

How about the couch game?

Here's how it works: Set up a couch, with four sitting poseballs on it. Everybody present is randomly given a name of an avatar actually present, could even be their own, but not necessarily.

Two males and two females sit on the couch, and everybody else sits in chairs that have been provided. With one extra chair that shall remain empty. Whoever is to the left (or right, your call) of the empty seat goes first. All they have to do is say the first name of some avatar who is present. The avatar who has that name (for example if they say Yngwie, and Phoenix has been given Yngwie, then this would be Phoenix) stands up and sits in the empty seat. Then they trade the name they've been given (Yngwie, in this example) with the person who called the name. So now the person who called the name Yngwie, has Yngwie, and Phoenix has something else.

The ultimate goal is to get either four women or four men sitting on the couch, and in the meantime, you're getting to know everybody a little bit better since typically the conversation is about a lot more than just stating names, and also work on some memory skills to, in order to keep track of who's who.

You better not be drinking for this one.

LittleMe, why not play it while drinking? It could make it a whole lot more entertaining than when sober. :)

I almost understood the rules to that game. I'll have to read it a time or two more and hope it sinks in.

There's always strip poker.

But I did set the condition that clothes would remain on.

Boo.

you could probably throw together a game of "primtionary"-

it's like charades or pictionary, but using SL's building tools.

have one person act as host with a list of words, pass the word to the person who's turn it is in private IM- then that person has to make a sketch of the word in prims while everyone else guesses. whoever guesses correctly goes next.

not fancy, but doesn't cost a penny...

there's an organized primtionary game every day- check here for times:

http://primtionary.blogspot.com/

it's actually a really fun way to kill an hour if you've got nothing else going on.

Given I had to read those instructions a couple of times for it all to make sense, I have no doubt that it would get highly entertaining after a few drinks.

Hmmmmmmmmm. I like that idea. I'll have to keep that one in mind.

Just a thought... your idea put into my head... could you create a game like Jenga, using small physical prims that you would stack in a tower and then remove one-by-one until the tower collapsed?

I'll have to check that out too.

Why not get a trivia ball but use it with a twist? Along with the normal answers, give funny answers. Whomever gets the hostess to laugh the most gets the prize, then that person judges the next rounds' answers (so aren't in the running for that next one).

That way non-trivia experts get to have fun too, interact a lot and everyone laughs! :)

(I even met someone special that way, we kept making each other laugh...) ;)
