Recently I have been having a problem with some clothing, when I wear socks for example, they show above the waist of my jeans (and theyre supposed to be short socks!) they are no mod and they didnt use to keep my belly warm! Some jeans automatically make my toes go black. Today a jacket which was short and black, turned my jeans white!! I have tried rebooting, I have tried different viewers... any ideas???

Try clearing cache (preferences/network/clear cache) and then re-logging. Or try rebake (advanced/character/rebake textures)

Sounds like the palletized texture bug. Are you using an NVIDIA video card? If so, try turning off palletized textures in your viewer (ctrl-alt-F7), and then rebake (ctrl-alt-R).
Unfortunately, the palletization setting is not persistent, so you'll need to redo it every time you log in. An easier solution is to avoid the problem altogether by using an older NVIDIA driver. 175.19 is best for most cards. The bug is only triggered by newer drivers.

the release candidate viewer has removed the palatized textures which gets rid of that bug...
so if you do not mind using an RC, you can always try that too

Texture Bug

I was also having that texture bug where the (short) pants or socks were covering my entire bottom half of avi.. Thank You so much for the fix. This Nvidia GeForce 8600 card/SL clash makes me so afraid to update any future SL updates that come along. PetMe Petunia

I seriously would advise going to an old driver only as a last resort if you have a fan on your video card. The older drivers do a poor job of controlling the fan and you may find your system is much noisier because the fan will run at 100% full time.
I had this problem and still experience it sometimes. The best answer for me is to use ctrl-alt-F7 followed by several taps of ctrl-alt-R. It may take a few repetitions, but it will clear up the issue.
I wrestled with LL support (ha!) but they were absolutely zero help with this. The latest nVidia driver helps quite a bit, but the issue still shows up with certain items of clothing. I continue to check for a better solution, but have found none over the past few months.
Hope you find a way to make SL workable for you.

I've been having more intermittant problems recently with clothing not loading quite right. The reminder to update video drivers periodically might help me out.
