I recently returned to SL after an extended break. While some things are great (the lvls of creativity have expanded so much and blow my mind!) other things are not going so well....like all the bugs SL seems to be experiencing. I am not totally sure what is going on but all I can say is I am VERY VERY unhappy. Today I logged in to check things and respond to a couple of important offline IMs I recieved. While online I decided to look for something in my inventory. It was then that I noticed that over half the folders in my inventory are showing up as being EMPTY. This means I currently cant access over half of my 10000+items! It is like they magically poofed/diappeared. I have no clue what happened. Last time I logged on everything was great, no probs at all. Now....everything is gone. Which is weird, because among the empty folders are several of the items my avatar is currently wearing such as her skin, ears, tail, hair, etc etc. Yet I can still see those items in world. I just dont dare take them off her lest they poof for good too. >.< Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Is it a bug? Are all my items permantently lost?? If so I am going to be beyond P/Od since we are talking thousands of RL$$ (think exchange rate....ouch) worth of items. My whole new store, old stores, houses, my club, all my deco items......EVERYTHING, gone. What the heck is up with that???! Every one of those folders including my lost and found and objects folders (which had hundreds of items in them alone) are showing up completely empty. I cant open them. I cant do anything. Can anyone help? I have no idea what to do and I want/need my items back asap.

first, clear cache and relog. The stuff's probably in there but not showing. This usally helps.
Second, it takes a while for my inventory to load. Do you have numbers at the top of your inventory slowly climbing to infinity? If so, it probably hasn't all loaded yet.

You inventory should be stored on sl's servers. The first thing to try is to clear your cache and try relogging. Sometimes problems with a specific region can cause inventory to not load properly so if clearing cache and relogging doesn't work the first time, I would try it again but the second time make sure you log into a relatively empty region to see if that helps. It will take a while for all of your inventory to load after you relog so I suggest sitting still for a while while things load up. I hope that helps.

Before you log inworld next time, go to Edit Preferences on the log in screen, and choose Network tab... and press 'Clear Cache'
Close the log in screen, then reopen it, and log in world. Go to your inventory and type any word into the search box... wait for your inventory to load.
If you dont see your inventory reappearing, repeat the process... sometimes it takes several times.
You will probably see your inventory slowly returning to you
Good luck

Oh ty!!! It is amazing the little things you can forget after taking such a long break from the game! Clearing my cache helped. I can see all the items now. Thank goodness!

If, in the future, clearing doesn't fix it, search for and manually delete SL's cache folder from your hard drive. Clearing doesn't always remove all of the data, which may mean a less than complete rebuild when you log back in, so deleting the folder can help in that circumstance.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

From: Gabby Handrick I would try it again but the second time make sure you log into a relatively empty region to see if that helps. *bump* That's the crucial little bit there . If your inventory won't fetch because the sim itself is having trouble, clearing cache and relogging onto the same broken sim won't do you any good at all. (Try to find a good sim that works for you. Openspaces seem to fetch painfully slow and some sims only seem to do a partical fetch - few hundred missing out of 16k+ in my case. Those 'missing' items will fetch as you tp along to a good sim, but if you're refetching it's best to just do it on a good sim in the first place)

The RECENT tab screws me up every once in a while. Freaks you out a little with most of your inventory missing from view. lol

Or, is it possible there was a filter on your inventory last time you signed off? Make sure that to reset your filters and that may resolve the problem too
