OMG I am an idiot, I just can not wrap my brain around this... First this is not SL related, I just did not know where else to turn, so please forgive me. I have been trying to set up mysql and phpmyadmin and php service, and apache found a website that gives step by step instructions but god help me I just can not get it to work In a way I guess it is related to SL as I am trying to get my music stuff onto my new hd and can not for the life of me remember how I did it before *cries* I am seriously so close to tears it is scary, I get so frustrated trying to do this stuff, and been at it for a few hours. I am taking a break and walking away from the PC, so if any kind soul out there knows how to do this stuff, and is willing to connect with me (via skype, or msn or whatever) and would be willing to assist I would be forever grateful and ... not bald Thanks for reading and I will check in later to see if anyone can help me. *a very frustrated Rha*

I used XAMPP and found it fairly easy to set up. http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.htmlThen I read about the security problems and what you have to do to set up the security and decided I'd rather pay some money than money to get server space or just abandon the idea altogether. I don't remember a thing about the XAMPP setup process, though.

I just tried the one mentioned by osgeld and it was easy to set up, till I tried to use the phpmyadmin and lo and behold it will not let me connect to the database or even start phpmyadmin all I am trying to do is just set up mysql so I can use it for the database to hold my music so I can reinstall sam3 on my new harddrive just not meant to be I guess, as I am still messed up and tired of trying

If you're trying WAMPS, look at the WAMPS icon by your clock (looks like an analog meter). If there is any red in the icon, the services aren't running. Left-click the icon and select 'Start All Services'. The icon should go all white.

I've just been through that process and it can be frustrating In what way is it not working? If Apache won't start, then look in the directory where you installed it and there should be a folder "logs" and inside it an "error.log" file saying what went wrong when it tried. (By the way, SAM seriously requires you to run a web server and SQL backend in order to stream from a _desktop_? That's a bit bonkers..)

I know this is probably a horrible suggestion Rha, but did you call the maker of the pc. I am sure you are fluent in Indianese. Most often when I have a problem I google it or go to geeks.com. I also ask my techi friends in sl for help. Most times they spark an idea in my head that works.
I am blonde so I just click on things until either my laptop explodes or it starts working right. Good luck hun, I hope you get it figured out.
