Age verification is browser-specific

I don't think this requires a 'resident answer' as such, and comment may be superfluous.

This is an extraordinary example of technical incompetence ...

I just tried to complete the age verification form using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 as my web browser. Result: verification failed, no reason given.
I tried again. Result: verification failed, no reason given.

On a hunch (I have been involved with technical web design for many years), I switched browser to Internet Explorer 7, and submitted exactly the same data. Result: verification succeeded.

So now I am age-verified, but my confidence in the Linden Empire to use my data responsibly has been considerably diminished. I know the age-verification process in in beta, but this should never have got past pre-alpha.

I don't recall for sure, but I believe did my verification in a previous version of Firefox and had no problems on either of my accounts. Of course, I had to turn off my ad-blocker, but..

I used Firefox when I verified and it worked fine...no error messages.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I used Firefox, too, and received no error messages.

I used it a couple times on different computers and let others visiting try it.

Seems it requires the stars and sun to be in the right alignment ... or they keep forgetting to sacrifice the goats and chickens.

Guess there is a reason it's considered BETA... and not even Google level beta yet

How much time was there between trials? Perhaps the first few times, your data did not match what they knew about you, so you were declined. But, the data you provided was silently added to their massive database. By the third attempt, your own data was already in there. So, what you entered matched what they had.

I think you're jumping to conclusions and assuming that they didn't do any testing with Firefox/Mozilla. There are *so* many variables involved in applications that involve open-systems communication, that it's impossible to test all potential cases. It's often difficult to simply identify all the significant variables. For example, this might have to do with what version of some DLL you happen to have loaded due to an apparently unrelated application you've installed.

Same here. I didn't have any problems at all, I was actually surprised at how quick it went through.

About 10 seconds.
