No, not like Janet Jackson's, although that happens to me too. It's these absolutely fierce Redgrave bronze brown leather boots I bought. They're beautiful, but when I put them on, my whole lower body turns the bronze brown of the boot. Crops tops look like I'm wearing a matching brown belt, and with skirts I have brown tights on...
Now, I'm new---to sl and graphics---but I suspect this is a issue of something being on the wrong layer.....but what? Or no? I can't even talk to the Redgrave's manager about because I haven't got the language...
Help?

Hmmm. Assuming these are prim boots (they must be, from Redgrave), they probably come with "texture" Shoes (and maybe even Socks) in the same folder. If those things have mod perms, you may be able to adjust them in Edit Appearance for the associated clothing layer, and shrink them down to size. Or just try wearing the prim boot objects without the "Shoe" and/or "Socks"; if that works, you could construct your own basic (invisible) Shoes to shape your feet appropriately to make the boot prims look nice.

Could there be some kind of bronze 'light' emitting from your boots? Did you check if glow is turned on in edit 'textures'?
What language does the manager speak?

Jargon, like the rest of you.... The boots are sculpties (sorry, is that what you just said?), and nothing changes when I take the shoe off, or the boot top off. I'm still wearing brown tights. And no socks I can find... When I look at the textures in Edit, "Full Bright" is checked. Is that a light, and if I uncheck it, will the world as I know it end? P.S. And would anyone know why a hoodie I bought turns my pants white every time I put it on? It's OK if you don't; I know I have graphic card issues. Just wondered if there was a simple solution there....

... LOL - you can always uncheck "Full Bright" and if the SLworld as you know it ends, then set it back on again. You don't have to have either extreme of Full Bright on or off - you can adjust the texture brightness in edit. Full Bright would make those boots show up like a light in the dark - if that's what you want.

From: Aebleskiver Thibedeau Jargon, like the rest of you.... HA! Well put. I have been having this problem as well. But just with my alt that I use for building and making things. You can see where that would be a problem. I take off the shirt I was working on and my whole skin stays the same color and puffy if I was making the shirt loose. It's wierd. So ... first thing to do with almost any problem ... clear cache. From the top menu, Edit > Preferences Then there is a tab called General (I think) At the top of the box there is a slider for Cache size and a button that says, Clear Cache. Click that. <CTRL>+Q to exit. It will clear the saved data the next time you log in. I use several different versions of SL so I can't remember off the top of my head which setting is on which page of the preferences.

From: Aebleskiver Thibedeau P.S. And would anyone know why a hoodie I bought turns my pants white every time I put it on? In the end, sometimes you just get bugged items for some strange reason. I have a friend that can not wear her favorite hair with her favorite skin or she turns purple. She can wear the hair with her Neko skin or her lioness skin. her human skin is just fine with any other hair she has. But put that hair with her human skin and she looks like a grape. We even tried deleting the hair from inventory and buying another set.

But.... white pants make my ass look big. And, Deira, while as a noobie I'm rather fond of blingy things, all I want is to wear the boots with a skirt. I don't care whether they glow....or not. But unchecking "Full Bright" did nothing. I clear cache once a day, Yosef, without fail. I also have callouses on my fingers from hitting Ctrl-Alt-R to rebake textures... All to save a crummy $200 in upgrades for the old computer. Oh well, sl is hard. Thanks for your help, guys. There are some first class minds here, and I'm going to tap into them whenever I can, even if it is some stupid question there is no real answer to....

Sorry, I'm not quite sure I understand...did you try removing just the prim pieces, or the shoe form as well? Most knee-high boots are comprised of 5 pieces: a prim piece for each foot, a prim piece for each lower leg, and a shoe base. (With no mod boots, designers sometimes include lower leg prims in a couple of sizes, so you may have more than 5 pieces in the folder but you can still only wear one on each leg.) I believe Qie was referring to the shoe form.

When I switched it for a base from another pair of stilettos, everything regained its normal color. I've got to go shopping for skirts now! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (Damn, you people are good!) And thank *you*, Deira, for the kind welcome. And, Yosef--------geez.

Yay! If the original shoe base is mod, you can try going into Appearance>Shoes and lower the height/length slider too.

From: Aebleskiver Thibedeau But.... white pants make my ass look big. Just FYI, men in SL are always complaining that women are too skinny, and need some booty on them. Welcome to SL!
