Sadly, no way that I know of. I agree this would be a really useful feature.

Create two copies of the shortcut used to start Second Life.
In the target field of shortcut 1, add -multiple -login Firstname1 Lastname1 Password1 In the target field of shortcut 2, add -multiple -login Firstname2 Lastname2 Password2 Then when you lare ogged on as one avatar and want to change to the other one, use the shortcut for the other avatar, and once it's started, close the first one. It's not precisely what you asked for but I think it's as close as you can get and not too bad. _____________________

thanks suezanne I never thought of doing that!
I hate having to put in username and password each time word of caution though, if you use a shared pc, putting those in means your username and password will be autofilled in _____________________

When I run multiple clients it messes up my sound. Other than that, running multiples and shutting down one when you are done is a good way to go. Good tip Suezanne.

It's not a problem for me but might be for some. I'm not sure what happens if you don't include the password. [Edit - leaving the password out doesn't seem to work at all. It's producing the crash reporter.] _____________________

if the password isn't filled in it should take you to the logon screen... not sure if it'll grab parameters after it to try to use with the password field so for saftey if you aren't going to include the password, make sure -login is the last commandline switch used

trying to use -login without using the password is not working at all for me - I should have tested it before I posted.

Is there a way to switch from one account/user to another WITHOUT quitting the application & logging back in all over again??? Only if your computer can handle running multiple session of SL. Then you can log in with the alt without disconnecting the original avatar. Then you just have to reshape your windows on your monitor so you can see both sessions at the same time. _____________________

Is there a way to switch from one account/user to another WITHOUT quitting the application & logging back in all over again??? I would say load up another sl with your alt character. You have to put space-multiple after the us in the shortcut icon. then you have 2 and get rid of the first...SL has a help topic tip on the subject |
