Collars - primer?

I want a nice collar for my sub; attractive and powerful, with good scripts.

1. Is there a primer on how collars work, the options, drawbacks etc. Can the scripts be modified or enhanced by the owner?

2. What is a reasonable price for a very good collar? What brands or stores sell the best ones. I have had a look in the marketplace, but I have been on Marketplace but, frankly, I was mostly baffled by the varying claims etc.

3. I have also heard of OpenCollar; how advanced it is, and can it be added to any collar, etc

1. if you buy a collar the scripts are no mod, it is afterall the scripts that make a collar what it is, some have a way to write you own scripts as plugins and nearly all collars come with a manual so no need for a primer.

2. prices varie widly from 0 L$ for an OpenCollar to I think about 600 L$ for a famous brand some might even have delusional prices of nearly 1000 L$, usualy it is not the collar itself that makes it worth it but clever interfacing like the coolhud or sensations relaying etc.

3. OpenCollar can compeet with the exsisting collars in function and expandabilety and the number of collars with OpenCollar scripts that you can get for free is growing fast, if a collar is mod you can add the scripts to it, it is all explained in the notecard that comes with it, it also has a Dom hud and remote controll to manage subs that are on another sim and a hud to controll the ao build into the collar. Some of the OpenCollar based Collars are very clever like a collar build into a belt and it shows you can use the scripts in other things then just a collar.

I always use OpenCollar. The scripts are open source and can be modified by anyone and also offer the basic features like leashing (also to leash posts), setting poses, playing animations. It has also RLV support and includes an RLV relay so that RLV furniture can put restraints on the sub. You can also place your own animations in it and there is a adapter to use Amethyst plugins. There are quite a few Open Collar enabled collars for free at their headquarters (search the the Temple of the Collar), but there are also shops offering collars with Open Collar scripts inside (prices vary here). If you already got a collar that is mod, you can also make that collar Open Collar compatible for free - also did that with some collar I already had. Oh, and the Open Collar cuffs are also Lockmeister/Lockguard compatible. As for the collar itself you can modify any other mod cuff to become Open Collar cuffs.

IMHO, the two best collar scripts - opencollar and Dari's scripts - are free.

Yes, exactly. My clever boy bought a modifiable men's necklace, dropped the Dari's Haus scripts in and got himself a designer collar. Not hard to do at all.

MoDesigns scripts are also very full featured, but they aren't cheap.

wonders why a collar needs to be "powerfu" is it not the Doms position that is to give that not an item around the neck?
