Hehe i knew that title would get you all to read the post!
But it's actually just a boring question about textures - when I use the wedge shape to make a roof I've noticed that the rooftile texture has a sort of kink in it - same if you taper a prim and then texture it. Is there anyway of eliminating this so I can get nice even rooftiles?
Cheers

Bad girl Amy, you should ask this in texturing tips. Yes to your question, use 'planar' on the texture page.
It's on a pop up, I think default is called 'normal'.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli oh I never knew that always wondered what planar was for Torley Linden has a nice tutorial on this very subject, showing what can be achieved. Search his page, or search on Yahoo for it. Rock

Planar textures are the solution for flat, tapered surfaces. Note that as the name implies, they are NOT for use on rounded surfaces, such as the outside of a cylinder or sphere, or the surface of a circular hollow.
General rule of thumb: Any texture you want to use as a planar texture needs to be seamless, because it WILL be tiled on the surface. When you switch from Default to Planar, the repeat factor will be off by roughly 5x, depending on the pixel count of the texture. With most square 512 x 512 or 256 x 256 textures, you want a repeat factor of 0.4 or 0.2 in each direction to get the same size texture as a 1.000 repeat on a default texture. Experiment to see what works best for your texture
