Do I have a premium account?

This may seem like a strange question, but.... my rezday is August 2005. I remember that they were offering a lifetime membership for some fee, which I paid. (I don't remember how much it was but not a tremendous amount). I was active for a couple of months and then gone until December 2007.

According to my account information, I have payment information on file and I magically receive L$300 a week in my SL account. Am I able to buy a little 512 piece of land without incurring additional fees?

How do I know if I'm a premium member able to do this? I still feel like a newbie :-)

They offered a lifetime membership? Just curious how much something like would be.

The My Land window under the World menu should also tell you how much land you can purchase at your current level.

It should say something in your profile about being a "Charter Member" if you bought the package back in the day. If you are actually a Charter Member then you would be entitled to 4096 of land without any ongoing cost to you, but you'll have to buy the land as usual.

In your "My Account" profile should specify whether you can own land and how much land you're allowed to hold at your current tier.

I think you will find that you are all paid up premium for life :) I am nowhere near as SL'old, but I have read from others having taken advantage of that offer.

Oh btw...there is no first land though! You will have to buy the 512 then as a premium you wont pay tier on a 512

Hey Maja, welcome <back> to the forums! It sounds like you are looking in your ingame profile ... if you look at your My Account page on the website, what type of account does it say you have?

(from here, for example, you could choose the Community link in the dark blue menu above, then near the bottom of the menus on the left of the Community page you will see "My Account".) It should say that you are Basic, Premium or Charter.

If it says Premium, then you can buy a 512 and pay no tier for it. If it says Charter, then evidently you get more, yay!

As far as I know, lifetime memberships weren't available in August 2005 - they ended long before that. (When they were offered, I think they were around US$200, but that was back when SL was tiny. They give you a Premium membership with 4096sqm of tier, for life.)

The easiest way to see if you became Premium in 2005, is to look at your Account History and see if you got a L$500 "Stipend Base" payment today or last Tuesday. If you get L$300, your Premium account was activated around 2006.

Some old accounts _can_ hold land without being Premium, although I don't know if they were around in 2005. Charter Members and Lifetime Members no longer have their status displayed on their profiles, that I know of.

Wow - thanks for all the quick answers!

Well, I see the truth now - the b*****ds! I apparently paid for a free basic account LOL!

Actually - I do get the $300L a week, but I don't have any land privileges. I guess I can't complain because I'm pretty sure I paid US$9.95 for that membership.

Meh - guess I'll keep being a hobo for the time being :-) I haven't quite figured out the advantage to having a house since I don't need a private place to have cybersex and I carry my clothes around in a virtual backpack called an inventory *grin*

Let me re-think that cyber comment... it sounds as if I'm just doing it in public, when I mean to say that I don't do it at all and therefore don't especially need privacy.

***edited to add: you know, I don't even know if it's 300 or 500 I get each week. I have a decent amount of money in my account and I don't spend that much, so I haven't actually noticed how much is going into the account each week. ***

Actually this is not correct. On the in-world profile box labeled "Account", Charter Member status is displayed for those lucky enough to have it.

Are you positive about this? It _used_ to work that way, but I think it was changed. Certainly looking at some profiles of well-known oldbies (including Steller Sunshine, the oldest oldbie of them all), they're all "Resident" now.

To my knowledge there is no form of account that gets L$300/week but no land privileges. Paid-for basic accounts - which were around in 2005 - get L$50/week (not L$300) and only get it on weeks when you log in.

Yes I just checked the Charter account that I know, well not really know but anyway, and her account says "Charter Member".

Perhaps even though Steller is oldbie, she is not Charter.

Either that, or some credit card she forgot about has been charged monthly/quarterly/yearly, and she hasn't found out about it yet.

If you go premium, it's sorta like a lifetime account, though not free... it auto-renews as long as the payment is accepted by the other end of "payment method".

Well - I'll have to pay attention to how much I'm getting, but it was certainly building up all the time I was gone. I had quite a lot of thousands when I logged back on these couple of months ago.

'course, I blew it all on whiskey and women.... or was it hair and prim shoes? I don't quite remember now - those first few weeks back in SL are a drunken blur now.
