Removing Ghost Prim?

Hiya all,
Yesterday I rezed a cube prim in my living room just to see if I could with all the goopiness that SL was experiencing (still experiencing?). Then I deleted it, sort of. I can still stand on it, and run into it, but I can't select it or edit it and it doesn't show up in the parcel's list or with transparancies turned on. Anyone know how I get rid of this ghost prim? It's kinda right in the middle of my living room and I keep stepping on it, ouch :/

Thankies,
Katt

Hi Katt,

As far as I know the only way to get rid of a ghost prim is a region restart.
You may have to add a cushion and make that box a permanent feature until next week´s rolling restart :o

Usually only a region restart will solve that 'ghost prim' issue.

If you're on a private island, you can ask the sim owner to do it for you. If you're on mainland, you have to ask Linden Lab to do it.

*sighs* I was afraid of that :/
It's mainland, so I'll just wait for next week. Thank you both.
Although, it is kind of humrous to watch guests walk into it and stumble about.... *evil grins*

If you're a Premium account, you can ask in Live Help for a sim restart I believe?

Although... if the PN's history are anything to go by, there will probably be some gridcrashing over the next day or so being a US holiday. You might get lucky!

It may be possible that it was not the prim you actually rezzed, it may be one of the surrounding prims is causing this.

I have had this on a terrace/balcony with 3 sets of adjoing doors, I could not get to one of the sets of doors due to a ghost prim, after first selecting the linksets and moving them either on of the co-ords and using edit undo to return them to their original postion, I eventually found which linkset had the prim that was causing this problem.

Unlinking that prim and deleting it, then adding a new prim got rid of the problem.

This problem also happened recently to a friend and on the same advice above they also solved their problem.

Hi Katherine.
Go into View in your upper menu, then choose Highlight transparent, ctrl-alt-T works also. That option will highligt all transparent prims, and hopefully you can see and edit or delete it now.
Hope it works.

We used to have a frequent bug in which you could see a prim on your viewer but not touch it or sit on it and we'd walk though it, and other folks would quite likely not see it at all, and this was called "ghosting".

Avatars would also leave behind an inactive remnant at times, also called ghosting.

We now have a new, totally different and somewhat completely backwards bug in which we have prims that we can't see but do run into, and this bug is also being called ghosting.

This new bug involves "prims that you can't see", which sounds like it could be referring to "prims that you can't see because they have a transparent texture on them", but it's not.

Expect some confusion when the same word is used to refer to multiple different things similar sounding symptoms have completely different causes.

Katherine,

As others mentioned, a region restart fixes it.

If any land owners in the sim are concierge members (pay $125 or more a month in tier) then they can live chat with a Linden and get the sim restarted in less than five minutes.

So, I got fed up, since everything I tried to delete turned into these ghost prims. I went searching for how to request a restart when I suddenly got a blue popup informing me the sim was going to restart!

Now all my ghosts are gone, yay! (Final tally of 27 ghost prims)

Thanks everyone for your help.
*uses her psychic powers to thank the Lindens too*
