Does anyone know any good Victorian RP sims?

I've been to The Western Alliance Sims, Tombstone and Deadwood, with only Deadwood actually attracting me.

I'm wondering whether there are actually any Old Victorian (mid 1800's to early 1900's) themed Role Play sims about.

Just post the Slurls here or post a name, Searching seems to lead me to the same odl places or fantasy sims, all helps appreciated.

Thanks.

If your notion of Victorian encompasses Steampunk, hie thee to Caledon and Babbage. Caledon also has a number of sims (30 odd, actually) that wander from fantasy Victorian (Tanglewood, and the darker Moors) to the more traditionally Victorian (Eyre and Regency).

Antiquity has a good number of RP groups, a lot of themed events, and pirates (well, not Victorian. But one can never object to pirates)

Steelhead is a Western sim, set in Victorian Oregon. A tremendously silly bunch, if you ask me, but I mean that in a good way.

Gah. It's late and my head is full of Christmas cheer, so I have a decided feeling I'm forgetting a few. My apologies! But hopefully these will get you started.

Crossroads is a CCS sim set somewhere in Europe (possibly in Britain) in the late 19th century, or so I hear.

Try the Victoriana regions, it's ... 9 or 10 SIMs right now, with great design by the owner.

"Good role play" might be the key operative phrase here.

To be honest, in a lot of regions, people don't role play much. Which is good or bad, depending where you stand.

If someone came to Caledon expecting people to be acting within a role, they might be rather surprised ~ we would likely fail to impress. Now having fun, that's another thing entirely. People have tons of fun. Caledon is known for theme without a lot of restrictions ~ if you want to be a steampunk furry pirate, we're *good* with it. Much to the dismay of anyone wanting historic accuracy, but hey, it's SL.

I'd recommend what's now known as "The Steamlands" in general for fun, which at this point probably encompasses at least a couple dozen estates, even if some aren't widely known. For roleplay though, to my knowledge Tombstone and Deadwood are probably the main ones.

Duck does a particularly good brand of Victoriana over at Victoriana ~ not steampunk really; more of a "different direction" if that makes sense. It's very inclusive ~ a decent Tiny population, and so forth. He's also an incredibly good architect and planner, and it shows.

Babbage is industrial grit to Caledon's polished brass, but also they are a bit more "purist" steampunk ~ it's more gearsy and urban over at Babbage, whereas Caledon will have a bit more countryside. If you are looking for a deeply steampunk experience, Babbage is a good bet.

Steelhead is gaslight fantasy, and rocking good fun ~ nearly anything goes in Steelhead, in terms of a good time. But it's strangely coherent in its own right, in terms of goings on ~ you can always count on Steelhead for great social activity. Is it roleplay? Kinda. But more to the point it's fun.

Is Steelhead part of Caledon? I used to have a lovely tenant who was a citizen of Steelhead then she logged in less and didn't need a 4096M parcel anymore.

I like New Babbage myself, very atmospheric.

Caledon itself is great for strolling around, gathering thoughts and riding on the tram thingy.

Caledon!

Other sims that haven't yet been discussed are Winterfell (yin to Caledon's yang) and The Crimson Gates. The latter is a dark, steampunk, Old West roleplay sim. There is also New Toulouse which is based on New Orleans during the period 1890 -1920 or thereabouts.

ETA: The Crimson Gates is the only true RP sim out of those I have mentioned.

Gah, I seriously can't believe I missed New Toulouse. I'm one of the original tenants, even. I'll plead thinking pure Victorian-- it's more roaring 20s Bayou. But darned nice folk there, and I still swing by whenever I'm in a jazzy arty mood.

@Ciaran Steelhead is its own set of sims, and not part of Caledon. But you'll see many of the same faces in both places, for lovers of Victoriana flock together.
