Without seeing a screenshot it could be 2 things:

a) textures not loading: try logging out and then back into another region

b) part of the HUD is offscreen: right click the HUD, select edit, use your mousewheel to scroll out until you see the entire HUD, use the colored arrows to re-position the HUD, close edit mode.

Right, or the HUD could be rotated so that you can't see it... in addition to positioning, try rotating the HUD.

I got one HUD that I wound up deleting in disgust.

It was a freebie emoter HUD. On one side were buttons...smiley faces denoting the various facial expressions. ALL the other faces of the HUD were transparent.

No matter what HUD position I put it in, it was facing the wrong way, and I couldn't see it to edit it.

HUD makers: Please keep in mind that your miracle device may wind up attached in the wrong orientation, and make the other faces visible. kthxbai.

Remember that a hud is just an object that is attached to a point on the screen - as opposed to a point on the avatar.
Right-click it to edit and move it away from the standard hud position - or rotate it if necessary.

Even with Show Transparent? I thought that ALWAYS worked.
