I'm a Premium member and I've just sold the land I owned so am currently landless. My tier fee for this land is due the middle of next month ($9.40 - yes, I'm in the UK and get stung for VAT as well...)
But I noticed this statement on the Land Fees page in My Account:
"The Land Use Fee is a monthly charge for the peak amount of land held during the previous 30 days"
I'd like to look for some new property to buy but I'm worried that LL will add the 1536 I've just sold and the 1024 I am thinking of buying, and charging me for the 4096 tier level ($25 plus 15% VAT - ouch!).
Can anyone confirm that I can now buy 1024 and it won't count towards my 'peak amount of land'? As far as I can see, 1536 will be the maximum amount of land I've owned in the past month.
Why does LL seem determined to make even the simplest decision so complicated???

I believe the peak usage involves the maximum amount of land holdings you have at any one moment during the billing month.
If you have 1500, and you buy a 1000 a second before selling the 1500, then your peak is 2500. If you sell the 1500 a second before buying the 1000, then your peak should be 1500.
Your account page should tell you simply how much land you can buy without increasing your tier. Also, when you buy the new land, carefully read the warning screen that pops up when you buy new land, to see if your tier is increased.

Amity is correct.

Many thanks for the clarification.
I just checked my account and found this
"You can acquire up to 1536 square meters without additional land use fees."
Since my sale seems to have been processed and I'm now at Zero land holdings, I think I can start looking for replacement property.
Thanks again!
