When building an object, I want to move a prim slightly. But I don't know how to do it? Do I have to use mouse to move a prim? I think it's better if I can use keyboard to move a prim with 10% gird per step.

press the 'more' button in the build dialog, then the 'object' tab. from here you can increment in .001 values the xyz coords.

There are little triangles by the number fields for each variable. Clicking them will change the values by a tiny amount.

You can also use a grid make objects move to positions that are a multiple of the grid size.

If you can access YouTube you can find some videos by searching for second life building totorial.

The Ivory Tower of Primitives is a good site inworld to learn some building techniques in.

There's a list of video tutorials at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorials which includes some on building.

There are some building guides at NCI headquarters and also you can find them or similar ones at Help Island Public. You might do well to join NCI and attend a bunch of classes - they have lots of good classes on every aspect of Second Life, building, scripting, buying land, all sorts of stuff.

Yep. I was going to say that. Just move the numbers. I usually find I have to move the prim by say 0.05 at first because 0.001 is almost too small to notice. Then I have to adjust it the opposite direction when I find I've forgotten which direction is plus and which is minus. Then I start fine tuning it by 0.001 as needed.

If your prims are at a funny angle, don't forget you can change the coordinates to local instead of world and the prim will move at its own angle -- much easier. For a long time I was moving prims a little bit x then a little bit y to move them diagonally. Duh! No wonder it takes me a long time to build.
