a few questions...

Hi.. i have a few questions, if anyone is able to answer them i'd be grateful.. ty

1.... sometimes my fiance's avi turns completely black, like he has painted himslef... does this happen to anyone else.. if so, do u know what causes it.. can it be prevented?

2.... i am using windlight and under the edit>take off clothing menu, my options to take off underwear layers have vanished.. does anyone else have this problem?

3.... i tried to send a no copy item to someone today, they declined it by accident and it wasnt returned to me.. i have never noticed this before, i was jsut wondering, was it a one off glitch, or does this always happen if someone declines a no copy item (i dont wanna make the mistake again, luckily this item was a freebie, so i didn't really lose anything valuable)

Its an error with textures loading, either for you or for the server. Ask him to rebake next time. To rebake:

Open the client and server menu options by hitting ctrl+alt+d

then hit ctrl+alt+r

Does he use multiple monitors? If so, that's the likely cause.

Seems to be a bug . The options are still there though, you can use them, you just don't see the text.

Another way would be to open your inventory and type: worn

to get a list of all the things you're wearing right now and then simply right-click and pick "Take Off"

Declined inventory unfortunately goes into the trash bin of the recipient.

If you give something to someone and they decline, they'll have to look in their trash and give it back to you.

The tarry avatar effect I think is caused by the skin being missing. I have a little robot avatar that is actually worn, but first my av shrinks down to pixie size and turns black like that, curls up into a little ball, then the robot shape goes over that. I think it works this way for most tinies too.

Applying a different skin and then reapplying his favorite skin might make this go away if you don't want to mess with the client menu.

Yes, I have had this happen with Windlight. The remove undershirt and underpants is not threre in either the menu or rightclick pie menu. It's a bug. Windlight is still a beta project which means it is not up to the normal standards reserverd for the main release. That should tell you something about what to expect.


Just a wild guess, but have the person you sent it to check their trash folder in their inventory. Most things you are given and decline are put there.

Yes, when one declines an item it goes in one's trash.

I know this happens with my partner all the time, I think it is because the graphics card is not up to SL standards, I know he also has a very hard time when there are large amounts of sculpties. He will see blobs not the proper shape.

That could be what the issue is? I am not 100% sure. But just my guess.

I don't doubt that things go awry at times - supposed to end in your trash, though, which means if you decline a griefer's object you might run into it later without remembering what it is. "Hmmmmm. 'Santa Hat' - I' wonder why that's in the trash. Better rez and see if it... " (rezzed object explodes in a fireball of flaming lolcubes)

It isn't a windlight bug - it is a bug in 1.18.6RC (which the current windlight is based upon).

Basically because of the new logon screen, the menu is initialised before logon rather than after so that you can get at preferences. Problem is the code which initialises the menu checks to see whether you are on the main grid or teen grid (defaulting to teen) to determine which menu items to include!

i know i can remove the under layers.. i jsut wasnt sure if it was only me that was missing the menu for it...

as for the black skin.. well.. ill jsut have him try oin a new sklin next time it happens and see..

Honestly, hon, some times too much information only serves to obfuscate the answer. You get two cookies for knowing where the bug comes from, tho.

I wonder if this is why I couldn't remove my underwear and undershirt for a long time last night. I still had the words viewable on the pie chart thingie, but those layers wouldn't leave. I had to actually go into my inventory and physically remove the items.
