okay, i tried to sign up for an alt. no good. wouldn't go. tried again (had to pick a new name grrrr).... stil no go. so, i acquired a new email address (so the alt wont be linked to me) and tried to sign up... still wouldn't accept it.

so, now i dont have an alt, and i wasted THREE great names!

my question is, am i doing something wrong (didnt see any other options to make different choices) or is joining on hold or borked and i missed that thread?

Are you getting any kind of error message?

Is the email not getting through? (Check your junk filter)

The Lindens can still get you access to those "three great names". Just contact one in-world, or submit a support ticket, and tell them what happened. Give them a valid e-mail address and they will send you an e-mail with a link that will let you resume the process where you left off.

Probably they didn't like the e-mail account that you used. I think there are some free services that they have blocked as valid e-mail addresses, because griefers were too frequently using those free services to create their untracable alts.

Was it giving you any error messages or anything? Or just silently failing?

I made my last alt a month or two ago, it all went fairly smoothly, I used the same email address as I have before, same info all through it.

You could submit a support ticket, either under your main name or with one of the new names as a special question... there's something in there about being unable to sign up or unable to access, if I remember right.

I signed up an alt a couple of weeks ago and had to wait about half a day for the email to come through... (to be fair, emails to that address are regularly delayed by anything from a few hours to a month

). Have you given it enough time to cope with any delays at their end or between you and LL?

I had that problem with a hotmail address, I phoned billing and they associated the account with a different email addy and gave me a password by phone.
