I bought a radio script from SLX and added it to a rock on my land, one of those free ones you get in your inv. from Eric linden as i was to lazy to make my own. i added a couple of stations, cool it works, so i deeded it to the land group i belong to so everyone could change it.
then i went back to edit the rock so i could add more stations and now i have no permissions at all and can't do anythign with the rock or the radio scripts in it. so what can i do to get permissions back? i could return it but i'd assume that'd just give the rock and it's contents to eric linden. Can the group owner un-deed the rock? or am i doomed to buy another radio script?
cheers in advance
-Crunch

-Crunch I deeded my TV reciever, and when I moved my house to another part of my land when I rezzed it was not deeded... but I guess since you added a script you're not making a copy so... hmm.. Have no clue on an answer but its a good question

When you return a group-deeded item that's transfer it'll simply return to the inventory of the person who deeded it to the group (which in your case is you). When you return a group-deeded item that's no transfer (for the group) it'll simply go *poof* and off to prim heaven. You'll never have full permissions on the rock again though, whenever you deed an item to group the next owner permissions take effect (and once again when you undeed). What you can do is return the rock (or set it for sale and buy it back from the group for L$0) and then extract the scripts (although their permissons might have been changed as well) and then drop the scripts into a new rock/prim that's set to full permission for next owner. It's also possible that if there's a notecard in there, you'll no longer be able to open it, but you can still read it with a script and then copy/paste the contents into a new notecard, so that's salvable as well (remember to set up the next owner permissions for the notecard up proper as well before deeding again). Hope this made sense . (Edited to add that I think most Linden content is actually set to full permission for next owner, so nothing might actually have changed permission at all)

you can return it and it gets returned to the last owner (you)
then rez it and check the permissions for next owner to be the way you want them to be in the group (full perm, mod, copy and/or transfer the redeed it to the group
when you deed something to a group, the group becomes the owner and takes on the permissions that are set for next owner
if that makes sense

Hi Crunch, First of all, I reckon if you returned it would go to the group owner, not Eric Linden. This happened to our security system. The group owner simply took it back and put it back out again, while wearing his group title. Then deeded it to the group again. Everyone was able to work the system as long as they were wearing their group title. Hope this helps Good luck ETA : what Kitty said

SO THAT is what happened to a computer system I had that was deeded to group a long time ago, it was no transfer, and I deeded then had to undeed to tried returning it and never got it back (and copy in inventory was fubared) which is why I tried to return the one that was deeded LOL

That's not a situation you could really still get today though: at one time you could deed things that were no transfer for you to a group, but then they removed that option a whole while back and only things that are transfer for you can still be deeded to a group now. (Although if you have C/T rights to an object, you can uncheck T for next owner and have the group end up with something that's no transfer for the group itself)

Hmmm... Isn't the objective just to get the little "Share with group" box checked in the Properties of the embedded notecard, so it's possible to edit it? (Maybe it has to pass back into the individual's ownership first, to be able to click that box. Not sure. If so, I'd Share the rock itself with Group and then Take it, but setting it for sale or returning it is probably at least as good.)
To Crunch: If the scripts were no-trans when you got them, you wouldn't have been able to deed them to group... so unless you explicitly changed them to no-trans for next owner, they shouldn't be any worse now than before, so you should be able to get it back. (That's kind of a corollary to what Kitty just said.)
