I run on Vista with no problem at all.
Have you tried right clicking on the icon and "Run as Administrator"? World of Warcraft wouldn't work until I tried that for the updates.

I don't have Vista but a good RL friend of mine recently got a new computer with Vista. She was apprehensive about SL running too. I talked her into getting a fairly high end nVidia graphics card which I helped install for her (actually, I did it LOL). Before we even tried to install SL we got the latest drivers for her new card (a nVidia 8600GT with 256 DDR2 onboard) and did all the configuring for her monitor and computer. We got rid of Norton software and got another AV (AVG, free), another firewall (Jetico, free) and turned off Vista's security stuff. When we installed SL we had no problems except for the frame being a little low........fixed that by turning off most of the fancy, glitsy Vista stuff. What graphics do you have? If it's onboard then it's almost definitely low end and shares system memory. All Windows OS's are memory hogs but Vista is really bad.......it needs almost everything your system has if you have all the default stuff running that Vista comes with. We all know how SL is a memory hog too..........something's got to give. She only got a gig of ram with her computer but after tinkering a bit with both Vista and SL she runs as good as I do with my XP system and my gig and a half (we have the same graphics card). I know it can be done using Vista.......but you can't do it successfully without prepping your system first. Hope that helps you a little.

Well... the computer is useing an onbaord video card a "NVIDIA GeForce 6100 and nForce 430 MCP" with 2 gigs of ram and a Dual core 4800+ AMD CPU. I know that on-board video card is low but I should be able to install Second life with no prob. I whent into system Properties, Advanced tab and whent into Performance settings and set it to "Adjust for best perfomance". It didn't help any and got the same error.
