I've been experimenting with AO, and fancy using Franimation because I like the idea of an AO that can be controlled from the chat line.
I've tried a number of times now, and am pretty sure I am correctly filling the animation list card. But whenever used, the walking animation is bizarre. It looks a bit like it is trying to play both the default animation and the chosen animation, resulting in a sort of drunken stumble.
I am not adding blank lines to the card, and have correctly entered the name of the required animation.
Has anyone else come across this? What can be done about it?

Have you checked you don't have a walk hidden in your shoes that's fighting with the AO? Very easy to miss and the first thing to check if an AO walk isn't working right.

From: Briana Dawson Franimation was made in 2004. Does that mean it no longer works in SL? I guess there have been alterations over the years. Are you saying Franimation does not work now?

Go here: and follow the link for the ZHAO animation overrider. You can buy the MB2 pack for 0 lindens, which is for nothing really. Everything inside is full perms, including the ZHAO-II AO. The scripts by Ziggy Puff and a whole bunch of others are based on Francis Chung's original script and many AOs in SL are based on or use these scripts in turn. Tinker about with the contents and see how it works. You can probably use it as is because it is configured to handle notecards. However, keep the scripts full perms if you intend to make and sell an AO product. Only complete eejits cum major @ssholes restrict the rights on open source scripts. Note: This is one of the top ten freebies I ever found in SL. A real humdinger.

I am saying it is outdated by years, especially in functionality. But if you need command line access to the AO, i suppose it will work. A Zhao II is a much better choice and gives you as the end user a great deal of flexibility that the older Franimator cannot.

You're probably right, and I almost certainly will go with ZHAO, but I'd still like to give Franimation a try. Any idea what the problem might be with getting it to work correctly?

You might get some insight by enabling Animation Info in the debug menu. Each animation's data shows when it's running. The last number is the animation's priority.

MY opinion on franimation, (no personal attack intented on it's creator ), is that it is code heavy, and bloated.
I wrote quite some time ago a very clean and fast AO script that nobody seems to want to use.
Or you can simply use The Emerald viewer's built-in clientside AO and spare everyone the script load.

I gather it was written some time ago, so I guess there have been improvements since. What makes it attractive, apart from the chat line control, is its claim to be low lag. I really like your little AO and often use it when I'm making custom ones. The reason, I think -- well, I know, in my case -- it's not more widely used is simple laziness. As you say in the notes to it, it could easily be adapted to support multiple stands and walks, and I often think, "yeah, I should do that," but something else always seems to intervene and I never get round to doing it. Consequently, when I need an AO in a hurry with all the bells and whistles, I find myself reaching for my ZHAO II. Sorry.... @Kay -- I found it at /15/2d/52260/1.html
