Win 2000 and SL

Hi all The sl helpdesk wasn't here tonight, ofline. So i ask this quiastion to you folks. My pc is runnin Win2000Pro, very sturdy/steady prog-. Windmill is doin some goodwork  Now i see an upgrade to sl 122,somethin. . There is no Win2000 annymore?? Onley XP and Vista? My quistian: i dont have a back up of this version, Annyon else tried with the same specs? If ya have a backup of the old exe file, please reply and send. Btw, normaly if i had sl minimised, i get always a signal if there was somethin goin on on sl!,like an IM ,dont get them ennymore?? Friendly greetings Melissa Tracer |

I wonder if the XP version would work. Kinda doubt it, though; Win2k is pretty ancient.

I'm still running Win2k, and 1.22 works just fine for me.
They may not support me if I put in a ticket about problems, but I don't think that is a significant issue.

Yeah, I have a PCjr that still runs DOS v2. Runs like a top.

Win2K is in no way an ancient OS. It's last service pack was just a few months ago.
Win2K does just as well if not better then any current OS. Despite the lack of support it should run SL perfectly for many years to come.

lol, i misread the title.. i read and was amazed: winning 2000, plus SL ontop. but ok, damn, no such prize here (would be fun to win the whole of SL (like owning LL)  |

Microsoft isn't even developing applications for it anymore. The last ATI video driver to support Windows 2000 was released in 2006. The last one from Nvidia in 2007. |

Makes me think back to the same commentary old holdouts (like myself) made when the OS market was changing. Hey, you guys can have Windows - DOS is a great OS! It runs great! I was a die-hard Win98SE guy, too. Time to upgrade (to XP, and wait for Win7, the early benchmarks have been fairly impressive).

Yes, Windows 2000 support is officially gone; if new viewers fail on W2K they won't fix it. That said, I doubt that they have made any code changes yet that will actually make it stop working, so go ahead and try 1.22 and see if it works for you. 1.21 should still be available to download if you need it; I don't have a link handy. |
