can anyone confirm to me , without being based just on afirmation by some Linden and/or on testings d one in one fo the H1 sandboxes avaiable on the beta grid right now, that there has aways been a gap of at least 10 centimeters between phys objects in SL?

I could swear that before H4 in all my experimentations with physics, I don't remember noticing a gap bigger than ONE centimeter, and then after H4, the gap became ten times bigger

it looks too big for me not to have noticed in H1, but now in the H1 sandboxes kept on the beta grid, it seems the gap is the same size :/

and btw, do you know why they didn't just make everything look 10 centimeters bigger to start with and hide this bothersome gap?

0.1 meters you are right.

that is ONE centimeter and not 10, what do you meant by that?

yes, there has always been a physics bounding box around prims. And yes, it's always been that big, and yes, it's frustrating. Which is why physics "games" like pinball machines, pachinko, and crane machines, get so large in SL, because realistically sized ones simply won't work.

even months before H4 hit the beta grid?

I wonder why somthing this absurd didn't come to my attention when I was playing with physics in pre-H4 times,,,,

btw, would you happen to have a picture that is from months before H4 hit the beta grid, showing the gap? (or a link to such a picture)

There are Havok1 sims on the beta grid. It should be pretty easy to sort out whether the physics envelop gap has grown larger or not.

I already went there, but I didn't trust those are exactly like how I remember H1 being on the main grid, though now it seems my memory of those times might be somewhat flawed
