Help Me Look for a Good Couples HUD

Hello all,

I've been searching around SL and SLexchange for a good couples animation HUD. With most of them being anywhere from $1000-5000L, I'd rather get some opinions before I buy.

So far, I've noticed there are non-poseball HUDs for no build areas, but are not as precise. Then there are poseball HUDS but one needs to be in a build area for it to work, however they are more precise.

So what are some of your personal opinions? Are the non-pose ball versions really that imprecise? Can anyone suggest some brand names? I'm looking for romantic stuff like kissing, hugging, holding hands, etc. Sex animations need not apply.

Thanks!

EDIT: I'm leaning towards Sexy Jesse's Ballboy with MLP. But at almost $5000L, I'd rather just learn how to use MLP and drop my own animations into the HUD. Would this be the best solution?

I've pretty much given up on these things, after trying quite a few. Even the best couples HUD animations are subject to so many factors - especially the lining-up of the avatars before triggering the animation - that they're not really worth bothering with. It's not very romantic when you have to ask your lover to stand facing you precisely between 1.5m and 5m away before you give her a kiss. Kind of takes away the magic, especially if one of you accidentally moves during the kiss and you're both wandering around trying to match up your anims again, meanwhile looking like zombies with broken necks.

What we tend to do is use a Rendezvous animator in places we can rez, and just rely on typed indications ("/me kisses you", with endless variations) in other areas. There's a reason why most romantic sims allow objects to be at least temporarily rezzed.

If anyone has anything more constructive to suggest, I'm all (kissable) ears.

That's about the size of it. You might get a little closer with something that requires both avatars to wear an attachment, but there is always going to be a little slop because simple turning isn't really available except indirectly. Plus, there is the whole collision thing, you really need to sit on something to bypass that.

If you care about accurate positioning, you're going to spend a lot of time adjusting all the poses even with a pre-prepared HUD. So yeah, if you're willing to take on the work, rolling your own is a valid way to go. You might want to experiment with one or two pairs of freebie poses in a HUD and decide if you're comfortable with what's involved first, before making up your mind on which way to go.
