I was just hoping for some advice from fellow residents, regarding selling of my furniture.
I have made quite a few settings now and think I am on the verge of opening shop.
I have looked around the forums for advice on where to rent and prices and so forth, but what I couldnt really find was information on preparing my items for selling.

How should one approach this. I am going to have my furniture out on display, and people can click to buy, however how do you get everything in a box, with the floating text above it that (for example) says "buy whole set save 500).
Do i just put everything into a box, and set it out, and make it copy, so multiple people can click the same box and its delivered to them?

do people prefer being able to click through a vendor? or do they like to see the furniture in front of them and test it out?

Would people be likely to buy a demo, i was thinking of making a demo like you see in hair shops, that people could take home to test to see if it would fit.

Also, with regards to sofas and seating, is there any particular perms i should have, ie, copy or mod... incase the sofa is too small/big? as i know people are all shapes and sizes...

also, what would a good starting price be, on say a three seat sofa, with just sit anims, no menus or anything like that, should i price similar to other furniture makers, or a little lower, as im just starting out...

Would people be likely to buy my furniture if i offered a high quality freebie in my store???

ok i think thats about all the questions i have for now, sorry if its a little brain overload for you... but any help at all would be appreciated

Most importantly, advertise on SLExchange. We get most leads that way. Either they buy directly through SLX or jump to the shop from there.

Personally, not a big fan of the floating text. Should you want to have a "Buy the set and save..." then I would make that a separate box with the set pictured on the box along with text explaining this. And I think it looks a bit more professional.

If you are selling furniture, they can simply "Buy Copy" and it will go into their inventory (Please make sure you name it something descriptive: "Red Sofa w/brown wood accents" anything that will be easy to find in your customer's inventory.)

You could place the item into the contents of the display item and choose "Buy Contents". This way you could place in a notecard with info on your store and a LM and it will show up in your customer's inventory as a folder and not just an item.

If I'm purchasing furniture, I'd like to see it..sit on it....see how it looks from all angles. I cannot do this with a vendor. OTH, there is the prim limit issue, so you could have one "Sample" set on display with the different colors available in boxes.

Never thought about it for furniture...but I think it's a brilliant idea.

I cannot help you here. Have you looked at other furniture stores or checked out those listed on SLX or OnRez to see how others set their perms? This might give you a better idea.

You need to decide what works for you and why you are doing this. Were I in your position, I wouldn't price my items along with the top selling, or more established places...but that is simply me. But you could have the next best thing since sculpties and they may very well be worth more than anything else out there. Ask good friends that you KNOW will be honest....they are a great source of info :)

Yes, absolutely. Great way to show people what you are capable of. And, if it is something they can actually use, then even those residents who may not need a full living room set now will remember you when they do need to fill up their house.

Let us know how it goes and best wishes on your new venture!
