Where to do graffiti in sl?

I've had a growing fascination with the colorful and brilliant graffiti designs I've seen all over SL and RL, and decided to create some of my own (since most tags on the grid are probably ripped off from google image search?).

Since crack slums, skid rows, filthy abandoned buildings, dark urban stuff etc etc seems to be at maximum popularity in SL, I didn't think anyone would mind me tagging their already heavily graffiti'd run-down buildings. If anything I'm enhancing the immersion level of the sim with real, organic graffiti from a resident of the grid, not something pasted onto the wall texture itself.

Gee, was I ever wrong. I got several furious IMs from landowners and all my tags returned of course. I also got several nice compliments, too, which made it worth it. At any rate, it was quite fun, a form of virtual vandalism--minor crimes in virtual reality where the offending graffiti can be removed easily, but some view this as griefing/harassment.

I don't want to be a griefer, or feel like I'm victimizing someone, honestly I view this more as performance art or a practical joke. But I can see where a sim owner with limited prims would be pissed.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has a need for free graffiti for their sim. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

I've searched in SL a lot, but I could only find like one place specifically for graffiti created for SL, and it's prims were maxed out.

Oz's Meat in Nova Albion probably still has the graffiti program where you can tag the building. The Infohub at Miramare has a thing set up under the bridge for graffiti.

I had a building set up for an event, once, and tried to get taggers, to no avail - ha!

Might want to consider contacting Astin Miles. He runs the Urban Spirit build, the whole of which is free to copy or take. He has a few great tags available around the build for the taking, but I'm sure he'd be happy for some more.

Yes it would. These days graffiti FINALLY is becoming accepted as a legitimate art form.

I for one would also like to see more projects like this, i have a few tags that i have also placed around the grid in various places, and like the op i have received both positive and negative feedback.

There are one or two groups of people on the grid that have even gone so far as to form crews and go about the grid leaving throw ups tags and bombs all over the place.

It would be worth asking owners of the skateboarding sims* if there could be a tagging area (maybe that exists already - dunno).

*Like Undercity, for instance.

Many people don't have the free prims, of course.

Yes there's a skatepark whom I tagged and they invited me to join their graffiti contest! That community graffiti project has full prims, so no one can add anything new. Perhaps I should convert my own parcel into a trashy run down slum and let people tag it...

Weeellllll now, I think the forum Hangout in Allana could stand a tag or two, on the outside. Let me see what I can do.

Head over to The Block and contact Zabitan Assia. It's worth a shot, it would fit the theme there.

If it is still there, it would be hypocritical of the gallery where they were showing Banksy's collection not to allow graffiti posting.
