Does anyone have a list of good url streams for audio?

I get my urls from Shoutcast; you can search fave genres and it returns a list of stations. I usually connect with winamp, but you can also do so with iTunes, realplayer, etc, and then grab the url from which ever of these applications you use.

Having said that, Shoutcast is a great place to start.

well I use my own, LOL

and an 80's one when I am not DJing

I would give you mine, but then it would be hit and miss as to when there is music playing as I DJ random times (but mostly afternoon)

ah what the heck, here.. feel free to share it, plug into your land or a stream tuner, etc

just know that sometimes (a lot of time) it will be dead air hehe

"Forums.secondlife.com", as defective and untended as they are, do have a search function, and it is often possible to anwer a question such as this with very little effort. In this case, putting "Music streams" in as a search terms very quickly led to

/327/ce/235885/1.html#post1840798

which includes a big list of music stream urls and also has two links to more music stream urls.

You can also find this list in the SL wiki at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Internet_Radio_Music_Stream_Urls

If you have the SL Wiki showing in the SL viewer, then you can find this in the wiki by searching for "music stream urls".

Well I guess I can consider myself sufficientlty chastised for wasting your time by not using the search function. ACTUALLY , I DID use the search function and couln't find what I was looking for.

Suezanna was trying to help honey ... in the past there's been HUGE huge lists of URLs posted, tons and tons ... literally more than anyone could ever need is tucked away in here.

If search isn't working then do a search for posts by me, because I know for a fact that I posted my thanks - also, you could try searching for Sally Silvera's posts (she won't mind being namedropped I think) as she is live music guru extraordinaire (she might mind me saying that about her, but not too much!).

Failing that, as people have posted, Shoutcast is ever reliable and has some gems if you are looking for something slightly unusual.

If you want people to think you used the forum search you could include a statement to the effect that you used the forum search, and the keywords you used to do the search with.

That way people will know that you used the forum search, and, people that use the keywords you used would find your thread because it includes the keywords you used. In this case, that would lead them to the very good list I provided the link to and the two other lists included in the link I provided.

You may be aware of the existence of the forum search function but you must need some work on figuring out good search terms. It's not a hard one to find. "Music streams" is not an obscure, hard to think of set of words to use. You might have to read some of the results to find the answer you want. I did, you could have to.

Not only did I do the effective searching that yielded the link, I also copied and pasted the list into the Second Life wiki, and spent a few minutes trying to deal with the wikis aggravating desire to ignore line breaks, which I could find no better way to deal with than doublespacing every entry in the list. I added key word sequences like music stream, stream urls, internet radio, etc. to make in easy to find.

I wasn't just trying to help, I did help.

I was able to find the list with the first post. I just took offense with the first thing in the post chastizing me for not looking into the search. I apologize, for not saying that I checked first.

Wow oceanna you were a lot nicer than I would have been in response to that.

Anyway, I love shoutcast. I have been having more fun with my audio streams using that lately. If you go into the "about" section on each stream, it gives you the url. Mucho handyo.

The other advantage of Shoutcast is that it lists the bit rate too.

many of us living in the southern hemisphere have to connect via long, and clogged pipes, with the result that many streams in SL come out *patchy* to say the least, and many wont play at all.

Personally I don’t stream anything above 48Kbs which tends ensure that all my visitors can enjoy the stream. Conversely I have left many events because they stream at 128 and higher and I can't have SL and a stream open at that rate.

Any way, just a hint to club owners who want to target anyone outside North America.
and in case any one comments on speeds I have 4Mbs ADSL, the bottelneck is the international undersea cables

Personally I don’t stream anything above 48Kbs which tends ensure that all my visitors can enjoy the stream. Conversely I have left many events because they stream at 128 and higher and I can't have SL and a stream open at that rate. Any way, just a hint to club owners who want to target anyone outside North America. and in case any one comments on speeds I have 4Mbs ADSL, the bottelneck is the international undersea cables
