i have a white line down the center of my screen, and off to the side a red, blue, green, position thing...does anyone have any idea what it is and how i can get rid of it..i have a pic of the screen if needed..this is what a friend said.
wow that's a weird look. I believe you entered some advanced command thing for second life
but doenst know what to do about it.. any help would really be appreciated.

It sounds like you have right clicked an on-screen HUD display and entered Edit mode.
If you see a window on your screen that says "Edit", close it. The lines and stuff should go away.
