I don't even know how to explain this problem. God. Okay, here it goes. I opened up a bunch of pictures/textures, to see what they were. Some I planned to put up on the wall in my home. I accidentally clicked the wall (somehow), and then a picture that I had recently opened plastered itself against the whole wall. Then, somehow, with ONLY a click (I didn't select anything, I swear), that part of the house disappeared and showed up in my inventory. This has happened before (just the clicking and disappearing), and it's been no biggie, because I can put the piece back easily enough. Though, it's really irritating that I could accidentally click a part of the house, when aiming for something else -- and then it disappears. Anyways. I can't seem to remove that picture that is smeared all over the wall. I thought it might have somehow replaced the texture of the wall -- but that's not the case, because under edit, it tells me the correct texture is still there. It doesn't appear to be an object that I can remove by taking it, and I can't seem to click on it -- only the wall, but not the picture. So, could someone tell me what the bloody hell is going on, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

I've just figured it out. Kind of. Somehow the old texture got replaced with this photo. I can remove the photo -- but now I'm wondering how to get the old texture there. I need a copy of it. Is there a way to get the texture from something you've bought? I don't have the texture in my inventory. The wall is modifiable.

I don't know much about this stuff, and I am certain there are lots of people who do and who will respond, but...is there another wall that has the same texture? And if so, is that texture copiable?
Or...could you contact the maker?

Or...could you contact the maker? Yes, there is another wall with the same texture -- and that's what I was wondering in my second post, if it was possible to take a texture from something that is modifiable. Anyways, what I ended up doing was rezzing the house in sandbox (and making a lot of people cranky lol, cause it's huge), and taking the part I needed. I just replaced it. Thanks for your help.

You may want to 'lock' your house down to prevent any further problems. It's a little checkbox in one of the edit windows. Once you lock the house you can't accidentally edit it.

you can not eyedrop a texture from another prim, unless you actually have the texture with proper permissions in your inventory
you managed to fix the problem, however another option would have been to contact the creator to see if they would be willing to either come over and fix it or send you the texture.
glad you fixed it
the reason it showed the correct texture in the edit texture window, is because you did not have just that face of the prim selected to see which texture was on it
(hope that makes sense)

Your best bet is to contact the creator of the house and ask them polietly if they could come replace the texture for you.
I have lost count of how many times I have done this for customers, hehe.
I particularly remember the frantic guy who had just taken a snapshot of himself 'having fun' with an escort. He had gone to pass the snapshot to the escort and accidently dropped it on the floor of his home. The home he shared with his SL/RL gf! He was in hysterics in case she logged on and spotted it (guess it never occurred to him to just drop a different picture on the floor until he could sort it heh). When I arrived to fix it, he was offering me piles of money to do it quick. I pointed out that I would do it for free (as I always do) but I can't deny that part of me desperately wanted the poor gf to log in and catch him, dirty little chimp.
