Hello, I'm new and need a quick answer to the above question. I am helping a male friend out and the avatar walks are horrible for both male and female. I have tried a few free ones for him, but they are just as bad. Anyone know where i could get a good quality walk for a male? Kylie

I've got a "tough guy" walk. It's shit though.
I'm afraid that's the only male walk in existence.

Abranimations sells several complete AO's that work fine. Try them out and pick the one you like, purchase it and wear it, and you're good to go. I think I'm using Number 4. It's "casual male" or something like that. Basically, the walk, run, a few stands and sit are all that really matters. If you fly around a lot, a decent fly and hover are ok, but aren't important. The Abranimations AO's will give you more than you need by a long shot.

Go to Animation Warehouse. You will become hopelessly lost. Never mind that. There are a bunch of walks to try out in randomly scattered rooms. The more subtle ones tend to have ads featuring business attired models for whatever reason. For the same reason, there is no apparent correlation between price and suitability of the walk animation. Make sure you cam around so you're looking at yourself from behind when you preview it, because that's just about all you'll ever see of your new walk. Good luck!

Yes, Conan, I have the tough guy walk on him now, and it is bad. Thanks Trout, I will try your advice.
Thank you both for the quick response. Kylie

FORM has a decent walk... not too much of a tough guy but a little stiff. I saw another one at 'bits and bobs' that looked ok. I'm still looking for one that I really like... There are some awesome female walks - I could walk behind some of my female friends all day But not many male ones. .d

I have friend who has been looking for a decent male walk too. So far he hasn't found one worth paying money for.

I've always liked the CGBG Walking/Running animations. They come with a built in AO, so all you do is wear. Both the male and female animations are pretty good. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Roosa/181/155/29I suggest buying the combo Run/Walk animation, it's only L250, instead of just the walk or run. You can try before you buy...

Check out my shop at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Choa%20Nu/10/20/32I have an animation platform in there with a male walk in it so people can demo the walk that is in the shoes i sell. If you like it let me know and we can work something out for just the anim.

Guys, this is Resident Answers, not Products Wanted. This thread should be over there, not here. This is not the place for "check out my shop" or for "where can I get _____". This forum is for learning about Second Life itself, not for shopping, and certainly not for advertising.
Please, everyone, Let's all do our part to help keep the forums organized, so they don't become a giant mess. If you're looking for a product, post in Products Wanted, not here. If you see a post in the wrong forum, steer the author to the right place. Don't compound the problem by putting the answer in the wrong forum too.
The last thing we need is for every forum to become an advertising platform. The Classified forums exist to prevent exactly that. Trust me; you might think you're being nice by answering the question wherever it pops up, but once that trend starts, abuse will follow quickly. Unscrupulous people WILL start posting questions with alts just so they can answer themselves with free advertising. And once that starts, people with legitimate questions will get drowned out, and the forums will be rendered useless.
This is not a trivial matter. Let's all do everything we can to keep the forums functional.
Thanks.

From: Chosen Few This forum is for learning about Second Life itself, not for shopping, and certainly not for advertising. Point well taken. Nobody who posted on this thread should take it personally; I'm sure everyone was helpful and the OP was indeed helped , but he may well have been better served on Products Wanted, where more options might have been offered. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work--and it will be in all our best interests if it does. (I might be tempted to ask the burning Resident Answers question: "*Why* do all male walks suck?"--except I'm so undiscriminating that I actually don't mind the default male walk. The Ruth-waddle, though, is a scary thing to behold.)

Outrider animations has two male walks that are pretty good. The less "cavemanish" one is better, lol. You can try them by clicking on the sign before buying them.

I know that this isn't where this thread should go but if someone asks a question i'm going to answer (if i can), no matter where the thread is.

From: Cole Riel Answer the guy, what's the big deal? I'm sure he wants a quick response, not to be told what to do. To help keep the forums organized? Pleazzeeee!!!!! See, I think it does matter, not out of any sense of aesthetic purity, but just practically: content-area folks can only track the postings in so many forums at a time, and if it's just one big forum, nobody is gonna be able to wade through all the posts to figure out which ones with which they can help. So, giving an answer in this forum to a specific content question is helpful and well-intended *but* doesn't necessarily lead to the *best* help the poster could get. And I kinda think this is the ideal thread for that reminder because nobody needs to be offended: everyone was just trying to help as best they could.

Again the CGBG walk/run to replace the default is a good one...
Fwiw...I don't know whoever makes CGBG. =)
All I know is that it's the only walk I've ever used and it's just fine.
