Hey all, I've searched and searched but I can't find what I'm looking for, I think it's because I'm over-complicating why question. I should know this by now, but there you go.
When using local chat (text, not voice) what you type appears like this: Drusilla Honi: Hello. However, I've seen a lot of people get it to appear like this: Drusilla Honi smiles and says "hello".
I want to know how you do that. At first I thought it was emoting, but it turns out that isn't right. I know this is a basic thing but I'm having a dumb week and I'm pretty sure my brain has gone on vacation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Rather than just saying "Hello", add /me then it would come out like that /me says Hello gives Damien1 Thorne says Hello.

From: Drusilla Honi At first I thought it was emoting, but it turns out that isn't right. Actually, that's how we phrase it in SL. Using the /me in front of a sentence is considering "emoting".

From: Drusilla Honi At first I thought it was emoting, but it turns out that isn't right. One source of confusion may be that "emote" is an overloaded term in SL. To the general public, it means exactly what you thought it meant (the bit with the "/me emotes emotively" , but it's also a class of built-in animation (e.g., "express_surprise_emote", "express_worry_emote", etc).

Thanks for the quick response you guys! That's so great. I did think emote was the right word, but all my searches resulted in what are essentially smilies or emoticons.
Thanks again!
