I figured this might belong in the SL Mentor Forum.. but.. seems like it shouldn't.. iono why, sorry if this is the wrong place!

So, I put in an appy to be a mentor since this account turns out to be old enough.. and all it tells you is 'Application in Progress' or something like that..

How longs it take to update to something more? Just wondering.. will it be days, weeks, months, YEARS!?

So yeah.. anyone have an answer? ^_^

Thankies for any response.

It used to be months, Oki. But they fixed whatever was broken, and now it's just a few weeks at most. At least, that's been the experience of the newer mentors I've spoken to.

Acorrding to the one blog they are going to be processing apps for new mentor in early January. So depending on when you applied you may be in this newest wave of approvals.

have a friend who was added as mentor a couple of days ago, she had to wait like a couple of weeks

the funy thing is that she was added to the group to see mentors ask " how can you see when some 1 was added as mentor" from a mentor nub, makes you wonder...

I applied for mentor like 2 months ago, and yesterday it was approved.
It's hard to say how long it will take because this is a manual process, they have to read texts, evaluate them, etc. We'll see if beeing mentor worth of something :).

I applied in December, and it was also approved yesterday.

They seem to approve people in waves, I assume so that the apprentice group doesn't get too large at once.

Yes they are batched in waves but now new mentors go into the apprentice group. After that you attend a training session within a specific timeframe (eg your are given ample time to apply, and warnings when its coming to the end of 'apprenticeship'). If you attend, GREAT your off and rolling and into the main group, if you dont attend, then you have to re-apply.

Hope that helps

I was one of the "took forever to get back to me" groups. I've been a mentor for about 2 months now - love it :)

And I agree with the others - the new applications are taking much much less time.

hmm could that be a very recent question?

I recently asked a question to the mentors which was totally misunderstood
I asked how can a mentor see when they became a mentor.

Meaning, how can I see, after becoming a mentor, what the actual date was that I became a mentor.

Some of the answers I got was worse than my misunderstood question.

The proper answer was to go to the page where you apply to become a mentor, and it will show the date that you were accepted and became a mentor.

I just wish people would take the time to understand a question before answering it with answers that would be of no use.

So IF it was my question you saw that you are laughing your ass off about, I guess you were one of the ones who misunderstood the question. (another good thing to do as a mentor is NEVER assume another mentor is new just because you do not see them ask questions or speak on the mentor channel)

I have been a mentor nearly a year, and many of the answers were from folks who thought I was a new mentor and/or someone applying to be a mentor (which made no sense at all, if I were applying I would not be speaking on the mentor channel)

well, seeing the question make me laugh, i`m not in the mentors group, i guess they didn`t like my posting habbits and rejected it silently

but we have known griefers wich are in the mentor group
mentors abusing the mentor tag
or just mentors who only have a clue about how to operate a sex bed and nothing else with false basic advice that even the nubs knew it wasn`t right

not long after i joined sl i though it was a helpfull group, then started to see the other aspect of it in public and almost every allowed to join even if they know virtually nothing but just been in sl for 6 months

now when ever i see the tag, it fills me with discontempt and glad not to have been accepted in the past
