Problem buying Lindens

I just started paying money today and wanted to buy some Lindens. I registered with Pay Pal and had $25.00 credited to my account. The site won't let me buy any Lindens now and keeps saying that I've already bought my quota of $25 today and can't buy anymore. The site shows that I have zero Lindens. Any ideas of what I need to do or what's going on?

just wait a day, for it to change your limits

because you made the 25 dollar deposit it means your limit for anything is reached

it will take a day to go up to the next level

you can view these levels on the
https://secure-web4.secondlife.com/currency/describe-limits.php

It will show your current level highlighted

(a lot of folks get confused by this, you are not alone)

Yes......there is a difference between buying Lindens and crediting your account. They really need to make that more clear upon start up because we get this question at least once a month.

If you credit your account.....you're not buying lindens.....you're putting an advance on your quarterly fee or land tier (if you happen to purchase land, then that 25 would be used toward your tier payments)

When you want to actually purchase lindens to use in-wrold.....the easiest way to do it is.....once you are logged in to SL.....look up at the top right corner of your screen...you'll see a little round button with an L........if you click that button....it will bring up a purchase window and you can type in the amount you want to buy. Most of the time this is the easiest way to grab a few L's in world........it certainly eliminates any confusion as to where the L's are going because you will see your Linden balance increase and hear a little jingling change sound as the money is transferred. ;)

But yes....you'll have to wait a bit now.......there is a lag time for new residents probably because LL wants to verify the payment method you're using....once that has been validated......you will be able to buy L's easily and quickly. And.......never never put your linden dollars into anything claiming to be an in-world bank!!! (there were some serious scams a while back.....banks were banned in SL.......always purchase Lindens from SL.....and always keep your lindens on your own SL account)

Also, it's a good idea to only buy Lindens through the way described by Milla and not from some other resident or through a website offering you a good deal. Some are legitimate, but many are not and may cause you to be banned under the suspicion of money laundering. If you are new it's hard to spot the difference who is legit and who isn't.

I would agree about buying them in world. I was told of a system to make money pushing another place to buy them all seem great but the catch... the exchange rate for me , and aussie, is better going through SL that a British site. Just something to think about if your not in the US

actually what people need to do is not call it linden tier level and just transaction tier level, (or the proper name; Billing and Trading Limits) that way people will understand when they reach the level on any traction within their level, they will not be able to do any other transaction until the proper amount of time has elapsed.

It has nothing to do with verifying the payment method as that takes merely seconds.

Because the OP did the 25Us dollar credit to their US balance, it triggered their transactions levels to be put on hold, until they either reach the next level, or a specific amount of time passes (if they can not go up another level)
also please note, it is not based on your account creation date, but instead...

"Days" in the New Resident limits description refers to days since first billing transaction with Linden Lab.

hopefully this helps it make sense.

If you want to see the limits, visit the billing and trading limits page.

Though I would recommend Xstreet SL to all -- I still usually get a better rate there.

Is there a JIRA issue regarding this? This issue comes up all the time; does LL know that it's confusing a lot of people out there?

went to the jira and added this as a comment...

I don't think it is a matter of people not understanding it. It seems to be more of a case where people are not aware of it.
If the info were in such a place that the user had to see it before using the lindex for the first time, I think we might see a lot less of this problem with people not knowing why they can not buy lindens after crediting the US portion of their account.
