Donating Land: What Orgs Do You Recommend?

I have a feeling this information is somewhere, but I've tried a bunch of search terms in both inworld Search and on the Forums, but an not finding it, so....

The situation is that someone very much wants to pay no tier, but also wants the 512m parcel to come from a 1024 that's set up as 16 x 64m. Which is narrow to begin with, but sort of works because it's land at one end, water at the other, and open water along the one long side (another sim).

So this person is willing to pay for the whole 1024. But wants only the 8 x 64m strip. '

The fact is that I do hold 'community' land in a couple of sims (and pay the tier on it!)---a boat-rezzing channel in one and parcel-separating channels in another. But I hate to ask just one person to trust me not to try to sell the remaining 512m---I feel more comfortable donating it, as long as it's to an organization that will put nothing more than TREES ONLY on it.

I remember reading of such orgs, but can't seem to find them through searches.

So....anyone have some recommendations?

Donating land is donating additional tier to an organization that may or may not be able to afford it. The Arbor Project is one such organization. They try to reclaim adfarmed land, and they put trees on it. But eventually someone has to pay for all that tier, so they try to unload the land to neighbors eventually.

I am not an organisation, I am Porky. However I am a premium member, that doesn't own any land, I rent. So I have 512 allocation sat there ready to fill at no extra expense. Ive been thinking of picking up a 512 plot to store my inventory archive and backups on. If you want, I will take the land, store stuff in the sky or underground and leave the ground blank for trees or whatever. Alternatively if you want me to hold the land for you for a short time with absolutely no gain for myself then I am happy to do that to as I'm nice like that (occasionally). I'll then pass it on to your chosen organisation or wherever when instructed

Send me a notecard in world if you want my help as my forum presence is sporadic..

Trees only? How about a charity devoted to preserving nature in some way.

Otherwise my vote is for any cancer charity. Put the stipulation into the sale but I'm not sure you can make it legal that way, or hold anyone to it. I don't know.

If LL won't intervene when land is stolen by landboats from residents during a senior moment.. what makes you believe that they will when a buyer won't keep his/her word after such transaction has taken place? There's just no way to make land transactions legally binding. In LL view, it's just a resident to resident transaction.
We're left to faith and good judgement.

Ah. That does make all too much sense.

(and I think 'the Arbor Project' is the name I'd been trying to recall....thanks.)

That could have been a good solution, and I thank you for coming forward.

As it turned out, the person decided on the more conventional way of splitting a 16 x 64 1024m---and bought the 16 x32, leaving it to fate as to who will end up buying the 'other end'. But I DO appreciate you making the offer that you did. (I'll make a note of it in case this ever comes up again, though I realize that circumstances do change.) ^_^

It's true---it's holding people to the 'trees only' that would be the problem.

You're quite correct. I know that I've never yet gone back on a pledge to hold land without building on it, but...if I were to leave SL, all that would change when the land got auctioned (or whatever).
