I can hear local voice chat fine, but when someone calls me on private, I cannot hear at all. Seems strange, it worked all right in the past. Is there a setting I could have changed by accident? Can't imagine local hearing is different than getting a private call.

Does the call seem to go through, or is there a message that the private call failed? Did you enable PTT?

Did you install SLim? When I did that, I stopped being able to receive Voice Chat IM calls. After several attempts by the provider to rectify the problem, I finally got them to delink SLim from my account (after I uninstalled it from my PC) and all is well.

Are you using the SLim First Look Viewer?

If you have tried SLim, and this started after that, if you log into the FL Viewer, your voice should work correctly after that.

maybe you need to reinstall the viewer

Voice in SL is pretty buggy for any platform still. You might want to vote for this bug to encourage LR to support an open alternative to the proprietary voice client so voice can be better integrated and receive the same attention from developers that the SL client itself does.
