How does one locate the Source of Lag on a Mainland Sim?

By Lag, I mean Time Dilation is fluctuating from 1.00 down to .62, Script Perf (ips) is fluctuating wildly from 7000 to 30000 ips, and Total Frame Time is also fluctuating wildly from as low as 7.9ms all the way up to 37.9ms

I've not ever seen performance this bad in this sim (Ober). btw, there are only two owners for the whole sim. But I still don't have a clue where to start.

I know on Estates, the Estate Tools allow the owner to see the scripts that consume the most cycles, or something like that. I've looked on SLeX and the only third-party tools I could find will show you where the script IS, Who it belongs to, but NOT some measurement of performance that will help me pair down to a few scripts so I can find the culprit.

Anybody have tips for diagnosing this Sick Sim on Mainland?

Since we piddly mainlanders don't have access to the powerful tools that Estate owners have to diagnose illnesses, you will have to file a support ticket to get a Linden out to investigate, and hope for the best.

You can try turning on "show updates" and wandering around.

Please have a look at

http://neighbours.maxcase.info/index.php?findsim=1&simname=Ober&exact=1

There are generally 4 mainland sims to a server, not geographically close to each other, so lag may well originate in another sim, possibly on another continent.

My home sim started lagging randomly a few days ago, and I've since discovered that I share a server with 'Freebies dungeon' O.o

(Does anyone know how often sims are shuffled about between servers? I checked the sim neighbours before setting up shop in Sabulella, and there most definitely weren't any laggish sims on the server at that time.)

When the Total Frame Time dips very low, see which part of it is high. It'll probably be the Net Time (The amount of time spent responding to incoming network data). If it's that, I've no idea what you could do about it except try to get a Linden to have a look.
